BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Boston University garnered two of the five Patriot League men’s lacrosse weekly awards when the League office announced the honors on Monday. No. 14 Colgate, Lafayette and Lehigh received one accolade.
Following a 12-point performance on five goals and a career-high seven assists, Lafayette senior attack Riley Sullivan garnered Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors.
For the second time this season, Raiders’ sophomore long stick midfielder John Carrabine was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week as he logged a career-high six caused turnovers and six ground balls in Colgate’s 19-14 win at Lafayette.
Lehigh senior Sean Dow collected Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week after going 22-of-24 at the faceoff ‘X’ to lead the Mountain Hawks to a 13-8 win over No. 18 Navy.
Boston University senior Will Barnes received Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week recognition for the second time this campaign after making 12 saves in the Terriers’ victory at Bucknell.
Terriers’ freshman attack Timothy Shannehan earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the second time this year following a career-best nine-point game on four goals and a career-high five assists.
Army West Point junior goalkeeper Sean Byrne, senior long stick midfielder Christian Fournier and sophomore faceoff specialist Robert Simone, Boston University sophomore long stick midfielder Donald Varnerin, Colgate senior attack Jack Turner, Lafayette senior faceoff specialist Evan Prince and Lehigh first-year attack Luke Breslin received honorable mention for their performances last week.
The Patriot League men’s lacrosse players of the week were selected in a vote by League men’s lacrosse communications contacts, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

*Sullivan scored five goals and dished out a career-high seven assists for a 12-point performance in Lafayette’s 19-14 loss to No. 14 Colgate.
*Saturday's contest marked the senior’s second double-digit point effort of the season as he leads the Patriot League in points per game (6.60). He ranks second in assists per game (3.40) and fourth in goals per game (3.20).
Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

*Carrabine logged a career-high six caused turnovers and scooped up six ground balls to lead the Raiders to a 19-14 victory at Lafayette. It marked the third straight game the Lake Forest, Ill. native collected six ground balls.
*Among Patriot League rankings, the sophomore is sixth in caused turnovers per game (2.14) and tied for sixth in groundballs per game (4.29).
Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Faceoff Specialist of the Week
Sean Dow, Lehigh, Sr., FO, Simpsonville, S.C./The Christ School
*Dow was instrumental in Lehigh’s 13-8 upset win over No. 18 Navy, going 22-of-24 at the faceoff ‘X’, while picking up a career-high 14 ground balls.
*The senior leads the Patriot League in faceoff percentage (.600) and ranks second in faceoff wins (69).
Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week
Will Barnes, Boston University, Sr., GK, South Riding, Va./Paul VI
*Barnes made 12 saves and allowed just 10 goals in Boston University’s 21-12 win at Bucknell on Saturday. The senior made five stops in the second quarter to give the Terriers a three-goal lead at halftime.
*Among Patriot League rankings, the South Riding, Va. native is second in goals-against average (8.30), fifth in save percentage (.588) and saves per game (11.17).
Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
Timothy Shannehan, Boston University, Fr., A, Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep
*Shannehan guided the Terriers to a 21-12 win over Bucknell, collecting a career-best nine points on four goals and a career-high five assists.
*The Fairfield, Conn. native became the second freshman in program history to record a nine-point game and the first since Chris Gray did it twice in 2018.
*The freshman leads Boston University with 33 points on 17 goals and 16 assists.

*Byrne led No. 5 Army West Point to a 17-4 victory at Holy Cross on Saturday as the junior made five saves and allowed just two goals across 39 minutes of action.
*The Acworth, Ga. native continues to lead NCAA Division I and the Patriot League in goals-against average (4.26) and save percentage (.735).
*As a team, the Black Knights lead the country in scoring margin (10.00) and scoring defense (4.67).

*Fournier led No. 5 Army West Point with five caused turnovers and two ground balls in the Black Knights’ 17-4 win over Holy Cross.
*The senior helped Army West Point to its fifth consecutive game holding its opponent to five goals or fewer.
*The Austin, Texas native leads the Patriot League in caused turnovers (19) and caused turnovers per game (3.80), while ranking third nationally in both categories.

*Simone logged a .677 faceoff win percentage (10-of-15) at the ‘X’ and picked up eight ground balls in No. 5 Army West Point’s 17-4 win over Holy Cross. The sophomore tallied an unassisted goal seven seconds into the third quarter after winning the opening faceoff.

*Varnerin gathered five ground balls, had two caused turnovers, one goal and one assist in Boston University’s 21-12 win at Bucknell.
