2026 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Notebook (2.13.26)

All nine Patriot League men’s teams in action from Friday to Sunday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – All nine Patriot League men’s lacrosse teams continue their non-League schedules this weekend with one game on Friday, Feb. 13, seven on Saturday, Feb. 14, and one on Sunday, Feb. 15.

Bucknell opens the weekend on the road as the Bison travel to Robert Morris to battle the Colonials at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.

At noon on Saturday, Navy travels to No. 17/19 Towson (FloCollege), Colgate heads to Hobart following a schedule change, Holy Cross welcomes Sacred Heart and No. 11/13 Army West Point looks to remain undefeated at home against Yale, as two of the four games will be featured on ESPN+.

Loyola Maryland squares off against its second straight ranked opponent in No. 15/16 Johns Hopkins on the road, while Lehigh travels to Ann Arbor to face No. 17/19 Michigan, as both games begin at 1 p.m. Lafayette concludes the day versus NJIT at 1:30 p.m. from Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.

No. 20 Boston University wraps up the weekend on Sunday as the Terriers welcome Dartmouth for a 4 p.m. faceoff on ESPN+.

HOLY CROSS, LAFAYETTE, LEHIGH PICK UP MIDWEEK VICTORIES
Patriot League teams finished the midweek slate 3-0 as Holy Cross, Lafayette and Lehigh collected wins over their respective opponents. On Tuesday, the Mountain Hawks defeated Iona 16-9 behind four goals apiece from first-year attack Finn Morgan and sophomore attack Luke Breslin, while the Leopards knocked off Binghamton, 10-9, fueled by hat tricks from sophomores Benjamin DiBattista and Joseph Duggan.

The Crusaders (2-1) collected their second straight victory on Wednesday night by defeating Merrimack 14-8 on the road. Freshman attack Aedan Cassidy paced Holy Cross with five points on three goals and two assists.

SIX PATRIOT LEAGUE STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO 2026 TEWAARATON WATCH LIST
Six Patriot League men’s lacrosse student-athletes were named to the 2026 Tewaaraton Watch List by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Tuesday. Army West Point senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne and senior midfielder Evan Plunkett, Boston University sophomore attack Timothy Shannehan, Colgate senior midfielder Hunter Drouin, Lehigh senior defender Richard Checo and Navy junior defender AJ Marsh represented the League.

The 50 men selected represent the first group from which the eventual 25 nominees, five finalists and award winner will be chosen. The Watch List will be updated twice, with additions being named on March 5 and March 26.

SIX PATRIOT LEAGUE PLAYERS SELECTED AS USA LACROSSE PRESEASON ALL-AMERICANS
Army West Point led the Patriot League with two student-athletes on the 2026 USA Lacrosse Division I Men’s Preseason All-American teams. Senior midfielder Evan Plunkett and senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne were both selected to the Second Team.

Boston University sophomore attack Timothy Shannehan, Colgate senior midfielder Hunter Drouin, Lehigh senior defender Richard Checo and Navy senior defender AJ Marsh received honorable mention.

SEVEN PATRIOT LEAGUE STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED NIKE LACROSSE MEDIA ALL-AMERICANS
The Black Knights had two players named to the Nike Lacrosse Media All-America teams when it was announced by Inside Lacrosse, as Plunkett landed on the first team, while Byrne earned second-team honors.

Navy junior faceoff specialist Zach Hayashi accompanied Marsh as well as Boston University’s Shannehan, Colgate’s Drouin and Lehigh’s Checho, as honorable mentions.

Four Patriot League men’s lacrosse student-athletes were named to the Top 50 players by Inside Lacrosse, including Army West Point senior attack Evan Plunkett (No. 15) and senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne (No. 28). Boston University sophomore attack Timothy Shannehan (No. 44) and Lehigh senior defender Richard Checo (No. 48) rounded out the Top 50.

The Army men's lacrosse team has compiled a 23-5 record over the last two years, including a 10-0 mark against a non-conference schedule that has included traditional powers like North Carolina, Rutgers, Syracuse, UMass and Yale.

NO. 16 BOSTON U HOPES TO RAISE STANDARDS
For the third time in four seasons, Boston University reached the Patriot League championship game. The Terriers’ 11-5 record, which included an overtime win over Army, made them one of just six teams to win 10 games or more in each of the past four seasons.

BLACK KNIGHTS TOP PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S LACROSSE PRESEASON POLL
The Army West Point men’s lacrosse team was selected as the 2026 Patriot League men’s lacrosse preseason favorite with 63 points and seven first-place votes. Boston University claimed the second spot in the poll with 56 points and two first-place votes, while Navy tallied 40 points in third. Loyola Maryland placed fourth with 39 points, followed by Lafayette with 37 points to round out the top five. Lehigh earned 33 points, followed by defending Patriot League champion Colgate (32), Bucknell (15) and Holy Cross (9).

BLACK KNIGHTS AND MIDSHIPMEN EARN PATRIOT LEAGUE PRESEASON MAJOR AWARDS
Army West Point senior midfielder Evan Plunkett was tabbed as the 2026 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season, while teammate senior Sean Byrne was selected as the 2026 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year after earning the postseason honors in 2025.
Navy junior AJ Marsh earned 2026 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Defensive Player of the Year honors, while fellow classmate Zach Hayashi rounded out the major awards as the 2026 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Faceoff Specialist of the Year.

PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S LACROSSE ON CBS SPORTS NETWORK
The Patriot League and CBS Sports announced their 2026 spring television schedule on CBS Sports Network, which features eight men’s lacrosse games.
For the 17th season, CBS Sports Network will be the home of the 2025 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Championship semifinals and championship game. Coverage of the two semifinal matchups begins at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 1. The League championship game will air at 12 p.m. on Sunday, May 3.
