2026 Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championship Day Two Recap (2.19.26)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Navy men’s swimming and diving team maintained its lead with 619 points following day two of the 2026 Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships at the United States Naval Academy’s Lejeune Hall. Army West Point sits in second (428), followed by Loyola Maryland in third (347).

The Mids grabbed the leads on the women’s side with 500 points, followed by the Black Knights (388) and Boston University (369).

500-Yard Freestyle
Army West Point’s Molly Webber secured gold in the women’s race with a Patriot League record, championship record and NCAA qualifying time of 4:42.07 as the senior became the first swimmer in League history to win the event four times. Navy’s Sarah Eldrige touched the wall in 4:48.55 to finish as the runner-up, while teammate Brynn Stoneburg rounded out the podium with a time of 4:51.33.

On the men’s side, Navy swept the podium, led by Dean Jones, who captured first place with an NCAA qualifying time of 4:16.73. Xavier Sohovich finished as the runner-up after touching the wall in 4:16.76 and Chase Maier captured third place with a time of 4:19.44.

200-Yard Individual Medley
Navy’s Lauren Walsh secured the title in the women’s 200-yard individual medley as the senior became the first Mid to win the event since 2020 with a time of 1:58.46. Army West Point senior Catriona Gilmore 1:59.41) earned a runner-up finish and Navy’s Elise Delacruz took third place with a time of 2:00.57.

In the men’s competition, Army West Point’s Joey Kling captured first place for the third straight championship as the senior clocked a Patriot League record, championship record and NCAA qualifying time of 1:44.45. Navy rounded out the podium as Michael Phillips (1:45.03) and Coleman Yates (1:45.51) placed in second and third place, respectively.

50-Yard Freestyle
Loyola Maryland’s Haley Robinson made history in the women’s 50-yard freestyle as the junior became the first Greyhound in program history to win the event at the Patriot League Championship with a time of 22.56. Boston University’s Molly Barber took home the silver medal with a time of 22.72 and Loyola Maryland’s Christine Datovech finished third at 22.97.

The Midshipmen’s Ben Denman-Grimm turned in a record-breaking performance to capture the men’s 50-yard freestyle title as the senior shattered the Patriot League and meet record with an NCAA qualifying time of 19.28. Army West Point sophomore Johnny Crush (19.48) delivered a runner-up finish for the Black Knights, while Navy’s Preston Kessler rounded out the podium in third place with a time of 19.56.

1-Meter Diving – Women
Boston University’s Alayna Kennedy captured the title in the women’s one-meter dive with a score of 300.55. The freshman is the third different Terrier to win the event (Sumi Cameron - 2023-24, Kyra Talow - 2016-17). Navy’s Mackenzie Kim, the defending champion, finished as the runner-up with 281.60 points, while teammate Claire Ellish secured the bronze medal with a score of 269.75.

400-Yard Medley Relay
For the first time since 2023 and third time in program history (2001), Army West Point’s women secured the title in the 400-yard medley relay as the combination of Angie McKane, Catriona Gilmore, Syndey Braeger and Molly Webber clocked a Patriot League, championship and Lejeune Hall record time of 3:34.27. Boston University’s Danka Ndubuisi, Hadar Miller, Kiki Rampersad and Molly Barber earned a runner-up finish with a time of 3:39.42. Navy rounded out the podium as Ela Habjan, Lauren Walsh, Julianne McCraine and Allie Maloney took third with a time of 3:39.57.

The Black Knights ended day two of competition with a bang as the combination of Johnny Crush, Kohen Rankin, Max Jordan and Thomas Hadji clocked a championship and Lejeune Hall mark of 3:04.17. Navy’s relay team, comprised of Ben Irwin, Juan Mora, Dean Jones and Ben Denman-Grimm, finished as the runner-up in 3:05.85. Loyola Maryland’s Joe Hayburn, Brennan Coyle, Luke Dwyer and Derek Feldman rounded out the top-three teams with a time of 3:06.51.

Day three of the 2026 Patriot League Swimming & Diving Championships continues on Friday with preliminaries at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 6 p.m. Live coverage will be available each day on ESPN+.
