2026 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Notebook (3.27.26)

Four Patriot League games highlight Saturday’s slate on ESPN+

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Eight of the nine Patriot League men’s lacrosse teams are in action on Saturday, with all four League games on ESPN+.

At noon, No. 18/19 Army West Point (6-3, 1-2 PL) welcomes Lehigh (5-4, 2-2 PL) to Michie Stadium, No. 20 Navy (6-3, 2-1 PL) hosts Colgate (2-6, 1-3 PL) at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and Lafayette (5-4, 1-2 PL) travels to Bucknell’s (6-3, 2-2 PL) Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.

Loyola Maryland (5-4, 2-1 PL) and Holy Cross (5-4, 2-2 PL) conclude Saturday’s slate with a 1 p.m. faceoff at Kuzniewski Field.

THIS WEEK IN PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S LACROSSE (MONDAY, MARCH 23 – FRIDAY, MARCH 27)
Tuesday, March 24: (No. 3 Harvard 14, at No. 20 Boston University 11 - BOX SCORE) No. 20 Boston University erased a four-goal deficit in the second half to tie the game at 10-10, but No. 3 Harvard scored four of the final five goals to earn a 14-11 win at Nickerson Field.

Sophomore midfielder Andrew Pape led the Terriers’ offense with four points on two goals and two assists, while senior attack Jimmy Kohr (three goals) and sophomore attack Timothy Shannehan (one goal, two assists) each had three points.

Colgate’s Drouin Honored on USILA Division I Team of the Week – Week of March 23

Colgate senior attack Hunter Drouin was one of 10 players honored on the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s Division I Team of the Week when the organization announced the team on March 25.

Loyola Maryland’s Cook Listed on Inside Lacrosse’s 10 Breakout Men’s DI Players So Far in 2026
Loyola Maryland sophomore attack Mason Cook ranked No. 7 on Inside Lacrosse’s article for the 10 Breakout Men's DI Players So Far in 2026. Cook leads the Patriot League in goals (33) and goals per game (3.67), while ranking tied for third in points (40) and points per game (4.44) through nine games.

Three Patriot Leaguers Named to Inside Lacrosse’s Freshman Impact Rankings
A trio of Patriot League men’s lacrosse student-athletes was named to Inside Lacrosse’s Freshman Impact Rankings, led by Lehigh first-year attack Finn Morgan at No. 6. Morgan currently ranks second in the Patriot League in goals (30) and goals per game (3.33) as well as sixth in points (36) and points per game (4.00).

Boston University freshman midfielder Peyton Forte was ranked 14th with 28 points on 21 goals and seven assists.

Holy Cross freshman faceoff specialist Shane McDonnell received honorable mention as he leads the Patriot League in faceoff win percentage (.610).

Kenan Everhart’s Emergence Tied to Loyola’s Turnaround
The Loyola Maryland men’s lacrosse team is off to a 5-4 start overall and a 2-1 start in the Patriot League as junior attack Kenan Everhart is second on the Greyhounds with 34 points on 19 goals and 15 assists.

PATRIOT LEAGUERS AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS IN SEVERAL STATISTICAL CATEGORIES
Army West Point senior Sean Byrne is among the nation’s best goalkeepers as he ranks second in save percentage (.615) and ninth in goals-against average (8.55), while leading the Patriot League in both categories. Additionally, Lafayette senior goalkeeper Joe Doherty is 13th in goals-against average (9.19) and 22nd in save percentage (.538).

Offensively, Loyola Maryland sophomore attack Mason Cook ranks fourth in NCAA Division I in goals per game (3.67), Boston University sophomore attack Timothy Shannehan is fourth in points per game (5.22) and Lehigh sophomore attack Luke Breslin sits eighth in assists per game (2.56). The trio each leads their respective categories in the Patriot League.

Several additional Patriot League student-athletes rank inside the top 16 for goals per game, including Lehigh first-year attack Finn Morgan (7th, 3.33), Bucknell senior attack Michael Meyer (t-9th, 3.00), Boston University sophomore attack Timothy Shannehan (t-16th, 2.89) and Lafayette sophomore attack Benjamin DiBattista (t-16th, 2.89).

At the faceoff ‘X’, the Patriot League features five specialists who rank in the top-30 for win percentage, led by Holy Cross freshman Shane McDonnell in 12th at .610. Lafayette junior Nick Faccone (.604) is 13th, Boston University sophomore Madden Murphy (.568) sits in 22nd, Navy senior Colin Shadowens (.560) is 26th and Bucknell junior Colin McLoy (.558) ranks 27th.

Several defenders join Lehigh’s Checo on the nation’s list for caused turnovers per game, including Boston University senior defender Connor Kehm (9th, 2.33), Holy Cross junior long-stick midfielder (t-12th, 2.22), Boston University junior defender Logan Styles (t-12th, 2.22) and Lafayette freshman Noah Blinkoff (t-19th, 1.88).

BOSTON UNIVERSITY’S DEFENSIVE UNIT LEADING THE WAY
Boston University’s defense group has led the Terriers to a 5-4 overall record and a 3-1 start in the Patriot League as they lead NCAA Division I in caused turnovers per game (13.22), caused turnovers (119) and opponent clear percentage (.687).

LEHIGH’S CHECO BREAKS NCAA DIVISION I CAREER CAUSED TURNOVERS RECORD
On Saturday, Feb. 21, Lehigh’s Richard Checo made history as the senior defender broke the NCAA Division I career record for caused turnovers. The Oakton, Va. native surpassed Lehigh’s Craig Chick (2016-19) and now has 163 career caused turnovers across 50 games.

Checo continues to lead the Patriot League in caused turnovers (22) and caused turnovers per game (2.44), while ranking tied for fifth and sixth nationally.

SIX PATRIOT LEAGUE STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO 2026 TEWAARATON WATCH LIST
Six Patriot League men’s lacrosse student-athletes were named to the 2026 Tewaaraton Watch List by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Tuesday. Army West Point senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne and senior midfielder Evan Plunkett, Boston University sophomore attack Timothy Shannehan, Colgate senior midfielder Hunter Drouin, Lehigh senior defender Richard Checo and Navy junior defender AJ Marsh represented the League.

The 50 men selected represent the first group from which the eventual 25 nominees, five finalists and the award winner will be chosen. The Watch List will be updated twice, with additions being named on March 5 and March 26.

Colgate collected three of the five Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse weekly awards when the League office announced the honors on Monday. Lehigh and Loyola Maryland each received one weekly honor.

Army West Point led the Patriot League with two student-athletes on the 2026 USA Lacrosse Division I Men’s Preseason All-American teams. Senior midfielder Evan Plunkett and senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne were both selected to the Second Team.
Boston University sophomore attack Timothy Shannehan, Colgate senior midfielder Hunter Drouin, Lehigh senior defender Richard Checo and Navy senior defender AJ Marsh received honorable mention.

SEVEN PATRIOT LEAGUE STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED NIKE LACROSSE MEDIA ALL-AMERICANS
The Black Knights had two players named to the Nike Lacrosse Media All-America teams when it was announced by Inside Lacrosse, as Plunkett landed on the first team, while Byrne earned second-team honors.
Navy junior faceoff specialist Zach Hayashi accompanied Marsh as well as Boston University’s Shannehan, Colgate’s Drouin and Lehigh’s Checho, as honorable mentions.

PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S LACROSSE ON CBS SPORTS NETWORK
The Patriot League and CBS Sports announced their 2026 spring television schedule on CBS Sports Network, which features eight men’s lacrosse games.

For the 17th season, CBS Sports Network will be the home of the 2025 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Championship semifinals and championship game. Coverage of the two semifinal matchups begins at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 1. The League championship game will air at 12 p.m. on Sunday, May 3.
