2026 Patriot League Men's Lacrosse First Round Recap: No. 5 Colgate and No. 6 Lehigh Advance to Friday’s Semifinal Round

No. 6 Lehigh upsets No. 3 Boston University in overtime; No. 5 Colgate defeats No. 4 Bucknell

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The first round of the 2026 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Championship featured a pair of overtime upsets as No. 6 Lehigh knocked off No. 3 Boston University, 16-15, while defending champion and No. 5 Colgate clipped No. 4 Bucknell, 6-5, as both teams advanced to the semifinal round on Friday, May 1, at Army West Point’s Michie Stadium.

Lehigh sophomore attack Luke Breslin scored his fifth goal of the game off a pass from junior goalkeeper Kasey Heath with 52 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Mountain Hawks back to the semifinal for the first time since 2023. Junior midfielder Luke Winkler found the back of the net five times, Patriot League Rookie of the Year Finn Morgan totaled five points on two goals and three assists, and Heath finished with 14 saves.

Six different Raiders scored a goal, including first-year midfielder Emmet Crotty in overtime. Sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Lehrman finished with 16 saves to lead the defending champions back to the semifinals for the second consecutive year. Senior attack Hunter Drouin and sophomore attack Casey Quinson paced Colgate with two points each as the Raiders and Bison played the lowest-scoring game in Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Championship history.

The six-seeded Mountain Hawks will travel to West Point to battle the top-seeded Black Knights on Friday, May 2, at 4 p.m. The fifth-seeded Raiders will meet No. 2 Loyola Maryland in the second semifinal matchup, with a faceoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Both semifinal-round games will air on CBS Sports Network.

The 2026 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Championship Game is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, at noon on CBS Sports Network. Dave Ryan and Evan Washburn are on the call for the semifinals and championship game, while Paige Messier will handle sideline duties for the title game.

*In the back-and-forth contest, the Mountain Hawks grabbed a 15-14 lead late in the fourth quarter, before Boston University sophomore midfielder Andrew Pape tied the game at 15-15 with 52 seconds remaining to force the extra period.
*Lehigh junior midfielder Luke Winkler poured in five goals, while Patriot League Rookie of the Year Finn Morgan added five points on two goals and three assists.
*Junior midfielder Jack Archer, sophomore attack Colin French, senior attack Andrew Kelly and senior faceoff specialist Johnny Kidd each added one goal for the Mountain Hawks.
*Boston University freshman attack Peyton Forte finished with five points on four goals and one assist, while sophomore attack Timothy Shannehan dished out a game-high five assists.
*Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Year Madden Murphy went 22-for-33 at the ‘X’ with nine ground balls and graduate student goalkeeper Michael Allieri finished with 13 saves.
*Terriers’ senior attack Jimmy Kohr added a hat trick, while junior attack Tyler Fox and Pape each scored two goals.
