2026 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Notebook (4.3.26)

Key matchups highlight Saturday’s slate; Navy hosts Holy Cross on CBS Sports Network

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – All four Patriot League men’s lacrosse games on Saturday have early postseason implications as the teams enter the final month of the regular season. Three games will be featured on ESPN+, while Holy Cross and Navy will be showcased on CBS Sports Network at 3 p.m.

At noon, the Patriot League’s top four teams square off as No. 20 Boston University (5-4, 3-1 PL) battles Loyola Maryland (6-4, 3-1 PL) at Ridley Athletic Complex, while No. 19 Army West Point (7-7, 2-2 PL) travels to Bucknell’s (7-3, 3-2 PL) Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium for a key matchup.

Colgate (3-6, 2-3 PL) hosts Lafayette (5-5, 1-3 PL) at Andy Kerr Stadium looking to win their third-straight League game, while Holy Cross (5-5, 2-3 PL) and Navy (6-4, 2-2 PL) conclude Saturday’s slate at 3 p.m. on CBS Sports Network from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

THIS WEEK IN PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S LACROSSE (MONDAY, MARCH 30 – FRIDAY, APRIL 3)
Tuesday, March 31: (at No. 3/5 Princeton 15, Lehigh 8 - BOX SCORE) Princeton pulled away for a 15-8 win over Lehigh on Tuesday at Sherred Field, despite junior goalkeeper Kasey Heath recording a career-high 25 saves for the Mountain Hawks, which is tied for the second most in a single game this season in NCAA Division I.

Offensively, sophomore attack Colin French and senior attack Andrew Kelly each scored two goals to lead Lehigh.

Two Patriot League Players Selected to USILA Division I Team of the Week – Week of March 30

Army West Point junior long-stick midfielder Drew Miller and Colgate sophomore attack Casey Quinson were each selected to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s Division I Men's Lacrosse Team of the Week for March 30.

Miller scored a career-high three goals and picked up three ground balls in the Black Knights’ 14-11 win over Lehigh, while Quinson scored a career-high six goals, including the winner in double overtime, to lead the Raiders past Navy, 16-15. 2026 USILA Men's Lacrosse Team of the Week – Division I – Week of March 30 (4.1.26)

Loyola Maryland’s Cook Listed on Inside Lacrosse’s 10 Breakout Men’s DI Players So Far in 2026
Loyola Maryland sophomore attack Mason Cook ranked No. 7 on Inside Lacrosse’s article for the 10 Breakout Men's DI Players So Far in 2026. Cook leads the Patriot League in goals (37) and goals per game (3.70), while ranking tied for third in points (44) and points per game (4.40) through 10 games.

Three Patriot Leaguers Named to Inside Lacrosse’s Freshman Impact Rankings
A trio of Patriot League men’s lacrosse student-athletes was named to Inside Lacrosse’s Freshman Impact Rankings, led by Lehigh first-year attack Finn Morgan at No. 6. Morgan currently ranks second in the Patriot League in goals (34), fourth in goals per game (3.09), fifth in points (41) and eighth in points per game (3.73).

Boston University freshman midfielder Peyton Forte was ranked 14th with 28 points on 21 goals and seven assists.

Holy Cross freshman faceoff specialist Shane McDonnell received honorable mention as he leads the Patriot League in faceoff win percentage (.610).

PATRIOT LEAGUERS AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS IN SEVERAL STATISTICAL CATEGORIES
Army West Point senior Sean Byrne is among the nation’s best goalkeepers as he ranks second in save percentage (.608) and ninth in goals-against average (8.80), while leading the Patriot League in both categories. Additionally, Bucknell senior goalkeeper Jaz Zanelli is 15th in goals-against average (9.57) and Lafayette senior goalkeeper Joe Doherty ranks 16th in goals-against average (9.67).

Offensively, Loyola Maryland sophomore attack Mason Cook ranks third in NCAA Division I in goals per game (3.70), while Boston University sophomore attack Timothy Shannehan is third in points per game (5.22) and tied for 10th in assists per game (2.33). The duo each leads their respective categories in the Patriot League.

Several additional Patriot League student-athletes rank inside the top 16 for goals per game, including Navy junior attack Alec Gregorek (8th, 3.20), Lafayette sophomore attack Benjamin DiBattista (11th, 3.10), Lehigh first-year attack Finn Morgan (12th, 3.09), Bucknell senior attack Michael Meyer (t-14th, 3.00), Colgate sophomore attack (t-14th, 3.00) and the Terriers’ Shannehan (t-16th, 2.89).

At the faceoff ‘X’, the Patriot League features five specialists who rank in the top-35 for win percentage, led by Holy Cross freshman Shane McDonnell in 12th at .610. Lafayette junior Nick Faccone (.571) is 23rd, Boston University sophomore Madden Murphy (.568) sits in 25th, Bucknell junior Colin McLoy (.566) follows in 26th and Navy senior Colin Shadowens (.552) ranks 32nd.

Several defenders are on the nation’s list for caused turnovers per game, including Boston University senior defender Connor Kehm (t-7th, 2.33), Lehigh senior defender Richard Checo (11th, 2.27) Boston University junior defender Logan Styles (t-12th, 2.22), Holy Cross junior long-stick midfielder Michael Rincon (14th, 2.22), and Lafayette freshman Noah Blinkoff (t-20th, 1.89).

FIVE PATRIOT LEAGUERS AMONG NCAA DI TOP 10 GOAL SCORERS
Five Patriot League players rank among the NCAA Division I top-10 in goals as Loyola Maryland’s Cook is tied for second with 37, followed by Lehigh’s Morgan (4th, 34), Navy’s Gregorek (5th, 32), Lafayette’s DiBattista (t-6th, 3.10) and Bucknell’s Meyer (t-10th, 3.00).

BOSTON UNIVERSITY’S DEFENSIVE UNIT LEADING THE WAY
Boston University’s defense group has led the Terriers to a 5-4 overall record and a 3-1 start in the Patriot League as they lead NCAA Division I in caused turnovers per game (13.22), caused turnovers (119) and opponent clear percentage (.687).

LEHIGH’S CHECO BREAKS NCAA DIVISION I CAREER CAUSED TURNOVERS RECORD
On Saturday, Feb. 21, Lehigh’s Richard Checo made history as the senior defender broke the NCAA Division I career record for caused turnovers. The Oakton, Va. native surpassed Lehigh’s Craig Chick (2016-19) and now has 172 career caused turnovers across 57 games.

Checo continues to lead the Patriot League in caused turnovers (25) and is second in caused turnovers per game (2.27), while ranking fifth and 11th nationally.

SIX PATRIOT LEAGUE STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO 2026 TEWAARATON WATCH LIST
Six Patriot League men’s lacrosse student-athletes were named to the 2026 Tewaaraton Watch List by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Tuesday. Army West Point senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne and senior midfielder Evan Plunkett, Boston University sophomore attack Timothy Shannehan, Colgate senior midfielder Hunter Drouin, Lehigh senior defender Richard Checo and Navy junior defender AJ Marsh represented the League.

The 50 men selected represent the first group from which the eventual 25 nominees, five finalists and the award winner will be chosen. The Watch List will be updated twice, with additions being named on March 5 and March 26.

Army West Point led the Patriot League with two student-athletes on the 2026 USA Lacrosse Division I Men’s Preseason All-American teams. Senior midfielder Evan Plunkett and senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne were both selected to the Second Team.

SEVEN PATRIOT LEAGUE STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED NIKE LACROSSE MEDIA ALL-AMERICANS
The Black Knights had two players named to the Nike Lacrosse Media All-America teams when it was announced by Inside Lacrosse, as Plunkett landed on the first team, while Byrne earned second-team honors.

Navy junior faceoff specialist Zach Hayashi accompanied Marsh as well as Boston University’s Shannehan, Colgate’s Drouin and Lehigh’s Checho, as honorable mentions.

FOUR PATRIOT LEAGUE STUDENT-ATHLETES HONORED ON INSIDE LACROSSE’S TOP 50 PLAYERS FOR 2026
Four Patriot League men’s lacrosse student-athletes were named to the Top 50 players by Inside Lacrosse, including Army West Point senior attack Evan Plunkett (No. 15) and senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne (No. 28). IL’S TOP 50 MEN’S NCAA LACROSSE PLAYERS FOR 2026: THE COMPLETE RANKINGS

PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S LACROSSE ON CBS SPORTS NETWORK
The Patriot League and CBS Sports announced their 2026 spring television schedule on CBS Sports Network, which features eight men’s lacrosse games.

The first of the five regular-season games on CBS Sports Network is set for this Saturday as Holy Cross travels to Navy for a 3 p.m. faceoff.

For the 17th season, CBS Sports Network will be the home of the 2025 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Championship semifinals and championship game. Coverage of the two semifinal matchups begins at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 1. The League championship game will air at 12 p.m. on Sunday, May 3.
