WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point sophomore attack Brayden Fountain and senior midfielder Cal Lambert combined for nine goals to carry the top-seeded Black Knights (13-3) past No. 2 Loyola Maryland (10-5), 14-7, to capture the 2026 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse title and the League’s automatic berth into the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
The Black Knights become the Patriot League’s first No. 1 seed to win the championship since 2022 and it marks the League’s eighth straight year without a repeat champion (2019: Army West Point, 2020: Champion not determined due to COVID, 2021: Lehigh, 2022: Boston University, 2023: Army West Point, 2024: Lehigh, 2025: Colgate).
Army West Point’s Lambert was named the Patriot League Championship MVP after totaling six goals across two games, helping the Black Knights collect their 12th Patriot League crown overall and fifth since the tournament format began in 2004.
Senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne joined Lambert, sophomore attack Brayden Fountain and senior midfielder Evan Plunkett on the Patriot League All-Tournament Team. The two-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year recorded 11 saves in each of the Black Knights’ tournament victories and allowed just 10 total goals across 113 minutes in the cage.

He was accompanied by sophomore attack Mason Cook, who set the Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse single-game record for goals with seven on Friday night, and senior goalkeeper Max Watkinson, who finished the two games with 29 saves.
Colgate junior defender Jack Carrabine and senior midfielder Patty Eldredge, along with Lehigh sophomore attack Luke Breslin and junior goalkeeper Kasey Heath, rounded out the 11-member All-Tournament Team.
