Patriot League Announces Corvias Baseball Players of the Week (3.7.17)

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Patriot League baseball completed the third week of the 2017 season, with all six League teams in action. Navy senior outfielder Leland Saile was named the Corvias Player of the Week, batting .438 over four games, while Lehigh's Ethan Frohman was named the Corvias Pitcher of the Week. Bucknell outfielder JohnPaul Bell was named the Corvias Rookie of the Week.

CORVIAS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
LELAND SAILE, NAVY, Sr., OF, Land O’Lakes, Fla.
Saile hit .438 (7-for-16) with three runs scored, six RBIs and four extra-base hits during a four-game week for Navy. He went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs driven in in a loss to Georgetown. In three games against Cornell he went 4-for-12, while driving in a pair of runs with a triple in an 8-7 win, their lone victory during the week. The senior outfielder got on base at a .438 clip and slugged .750 during the week.
 
CORVIAS PITCHER OF THE WEEK
ETHAN FROHMAN, LEHIGH, So., LHP, Berkeley Heights, N.J.
Frohman threw the final 4.2 innings of shutout relief in Lehigh’s 3-0 loss to Marshall. He gave up just one hit, walked one and struck out five. The sophomore lefty owns a 0.00 earned-run average (ERA)  in 10.1 innings of work throughout the season.
 
CORVIAS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
JOHNPAUL BELL, BUCKNELL, Fr., OF, Downingtown, Pa.
Bell went 4-for-15, walked once, stole one base and scored three runs, while batting leadoff for Bucknell during a three-game week. The freshman outfielder hit in each of the Bison’s games and is in the midst of a four-game hit streak.
 
HONORABLE MENTION
SAM CLARK, BUCKNELL, Sr., 1B, Trabuco Canyon, Calif.
Clark hit .429 (6-for-14) with three multi-hit games during a 2-1 week for Bucknell. He hit one home run, scored three runs and drove in three runs, while walking once and stealing a base. The senior first baseman went 2-for-5 with two runs in an 8-0 win over Davidson. He followed that up with a 2-for-4 performance with a walk and a stolen base, before going 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs in a 9-5 win over Hartford. Clark got on-base at a .467 clip, while slugging .643. He is in the midst of a six-game hitting streak.
 
ANTHONY RINALIDI, LEHIGH, Sr., OF, Secaucus, N.J.
Rinaldi batted .417 (5-for-12) during over a three-game week with two runs scored, three doubles, one home run and one RBI. He was the only Lehigh player to hit in each of their three games against Marshall. He had two of the team’s four hits in a 3-0 loss on Saturday afternoon. He hit a solo home run on Sunday in a 10-6 loss.
 
ANDREW SAUER, NAVY, So., RHP, Johns Creek, Ga.
Sauer appeared in three games, spanning 6.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing two hits, while walking two and striking out three. The sophomore righty threw 4.0 one-hit shutout innings in a loss to Georgetown. He added 1.2 innings of relief with two strikeouts in an 8-7 win over Cornell, before tossing a perfect 0.2 inning of relief in an 8-5 loss to Cornell.
