CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Boston University junior Remi Ramos earned this week’s Female Tennis Player of the Week, while Army West Point senior Michael Nguyen tabbed this week’s Male Tennis Player of the Week. Boston University’s David Bogatin earned an weekly honorable mention for the Terriers.
Male Player of the Week
Michael Nguyen, Army West Point, Sr., San Jose, Calif.
Nguyen tallied his third consecutive win in both singles and doubles play against Air Force this past weekend. The senior defeated Patrick Sklenka in No. 1 singles with scores of 6-2, 6-2, and then tallied a 7-6 win in No. 1 doubles as he teamed up with Gregory Shannon to defeat Air Force’s Isaac Perez and Patrick Sklenka.
Female Player of the Week
Remi Ramos, Boston University, Jr., Parkland, Fla.
Ramos tallied two wins in No. 2 singles last week as she defeated Utah State’s Sabrina Demerath 6-2, 6-2 and San Diego’s Daniela Morales 6-1, 6-2. Ramos also nabbed wins in No. 1 doubles as she and Lily Burchell downed Utah State’s Jenna Kane and Maggie O’Meara 6-4 and San Diego’s Nicole Anderson and Morales 6-2.
Honorable Mentions
David Bogatin, Boston University, Fr., Los Angeles, Calif.
Bogatin earned three wins in singles play last week for the Terriers as he defeated Concordia Irvine’s Thomas Kyle 6-0, 6-2 and UC Riverside’s Nabil Abdallah 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. He then took a 6-3, 6-3 win in No. 3 singles over UC San Diego’s Marc Isaia later in the week. Bogatin also tabbed two wins in doubles play as he defeated UC Riverside’s Benjamin Kilchherr and Kyle McCann 6-4 and Concordia Irvine’s Kyle and Shimon Murakami 8-7.
