Patriot League Announces 2019 Baseball Academic Honor Roll (6.24.19)

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The six Patriot League baseball programs combined to place 91 student-athletes on the 2018-19 Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll when it was announced by the League office on Monday.
 
Bucknell and Lafayette tied for a League-high 20 representatives on the Baseball Academic Honor Roll with Lehigh placing 18 student-athletes on the list. Holy Cross finished with 16 student-athletes on the honor roll while League champion Army West Point had 10 players receive recognition. Navy had seven representatives on the honor roll. 
 
Twelve of the 13 members of the 2019 Academic All-Patriot League Baseball Team made the academic honor roll including Patriot League Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year Tyler Wincig of Bucknell. Army West Point sophomore Anthony Giachin, junior Jacob Hurtubise and senior Cam Opp, Holy Cross senior Declan Cronin, sophomore Liam Dvorak and junior Austin Masel, Lafayette senior Richard Villa, Lehigh seniors Ethan Frohman, Ryan Malloy and Jeff Shanfeldt and Navy sophomore Jared Leins all made the academic honor roll.
 
Frohman, Malloy, Villa, Wincig were among the nine Patriot League baseball student-athletes to record a perfect 4.0-grade point average (GPA) during the spring semester. They were joined by Bucknell senior Jeff Gottesman and senior Christian Tailor, Lafayette junior Mark Glover, Lehigh junior Mike Maguire, and Navy freshman Thomas Graham.
 
Ten Patriot League baseball student-athletes made the academic honor roll for the fourth time, including Cronin, Frohman, Gottesman, Malloy, Opp, Shanfeldt and Tailor. They were joined by Bucknell senior Jared Drizin, Lehigh senior Thomas Schumacher and Navy senior Matthew Wilcox. An additional 12 student-athletes are three-time academic honor roll selections, including Wincig, Glover and Villa. They are joined by Bucknell senior Miles Moore, Holy Cross junior Alex Volpi, Lafayette juniors Brandon Posivak, Jake Sniegocki and senior Spencer Rouse and Lehigh juniors Matt Hand, Jake Kochmansky, Mike Maguire and Jason Reynolds.
 
To be eligible for the Patriot League Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 GPA in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League’s winter or spring championship sports.
