Patriot League Baseball Players of the Week Announced (4.6.21)

Army West Point, Holy Cross and Lehigh collect weekly honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point senior third baseman Anthony Giachin and Holy Cross sophomore right-handed pitcher Jack DiLauro was named Patriot League Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, when the League announced weekly honors on Tuesday. Lehigh freshman DH Andrew Nole was named the rookie of the week.  
 
Giachin, the 2021 Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year, was named player of the week after batting .500 (7-for-14) during the Black Knights’ four-game sweep of Lafayette. He scored four and drove in two runs against the Leopards.
 
DiLauro claimed Patriot League Pitcher of the Week for the first time of the season after throwing a 7.0-inning, complete-game shutout to beat Bucknell (7-0) in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader.  
 
Nole collected Patriot League Baseball Rookie of the Week honors after batting .500 (4-for-8) with two home runs and five RBIs in three games against Navy.
 
Army West Point senior RHP Harry Flannery, Holy Cross senior outfielder Peter Dudunakis, Lehigh junior RHP Mason Black and Navy senior RHP Tommy Goodridge received weekly honorable mentions for their performances last week.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Anthony Giachin, Army West Point, Sr., 3B, Livingston, N.J./Newark Academy
*Giachin hit .500 (7-for-14) with four runs and two RBIs during the Black Knights’ four-game sweep over Lafayette.
*He posted three multi-hit games during the series with the Leopards, including a 2-4 performance with a double, a triple and two RBIs in a 5-4 victory in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
*The Livingston, N.J. native went 3-for-6 with a run scored in Army West Point’s 6-1 victory over Lafayette in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Jack DiLauro, Holy Cross, So., RHP, Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury
*DiLauro posted a 7.0-inning, complete-game shutout win over Bucknell (7-0) in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
*The sophomore right-hander threw 7.0 innings of scoreless, two-hit ball while striking out a career-high 11 batters and walking two.
*His 11 strikeouts are the most in a single game by a Crusader since 2016. He leads the Patriot League and is third in NCAA DI with a 0.49 ERA this season.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Andrew Nole, Lehigh, Fr., DH, Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove
*Nole batted .500 (4-for-8) with two home runs and five RBIs in three games against Navy, helping the Mountain Hawks go 2-1.
*The freshman DH scored three runs, had one double, walked twice and was hit by a pitch. He slugged 1.375 and reached base at a .600 clip.
*He went 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBIs in the Mountain Hawks’ 5-1 win over Navy in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader.

Harry Flannery, Army West Point, Sr., RHP, Garrett Park, Md./Georgetown Prep
*Flannery made two appearances out of the bullpen against Lafayette, spanning 5.0 scoreless innings, while allowing two hits, striking out two and walking one.
 
Peter Dudunakis, Holy Cross, Sr., OF, Seattle, Wash./Overlake
*Dudunakis batted .333 (6-for-18) with four runs and eight RBIs to help Holy Cross defeat UMass and sweep a four-game series against Bucknell. He hit a home run and drove in three runs against the Minutemen on Wednesday.
 
Mason Black, Lehigh, Jr., RHP, Archbald, Pa./Valley View
*Black notched his second-consecutive complete-game win, pitching 7.0 innings, allowing four hits and one unearned run while striking out 10 and walking two in a 5-1 victory over Navy in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
 
Tommy Goodridge, Navy, Sr., RHP, San Diego, Calif./St. Augustine
*Goodridge tossed 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out three in a no-decision in Navy’s 4-3 win against Lehigh. The senior right-hander held the Mountain Hawks to a .091 batting average.
