BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh junior right-handed pitcher Mason Black and sophomore catcher Adam Retzbach were named Patriot League Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, when the League announced weekly honors on Tuesday. Holy Cross freshman right-handed pitcher Alex Bryant earned rookie of the week.
Black was named Patriot League Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season. He tossed his first career 7.0-inning, complete-game shutout in Lehigh’s 2-0 win over Navy on Saturday.
Retzbach claimed Patriot League Baseball Player of the Week honors by driving in six runs to help the Mountain Hawks take two out of three games against the Midshipmen.
Bryant collected Patriot League Baseball Rookie of the Week honors after throwing two scoreless relief appearances that spanned 6.0 innings, including an extra-inning win over Army West Point.
Army West Point freshman RHP Early Connley, senior 3B Anthony Giachin, Holy Cross senior 1B Andrew Selima, Navy freshman infielder Logan Keller and senior RHP Tommy Goodridge all received weekly honorable mentions for their performances last week.
PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Adam Retzbach, Lehigh, So., C, Greenfield Township, Pa./Lakeland
*Retzbach batted .375 (6-for-16), slugged .688 and drove in six runs to help the Mountain Hawks go 2-1 last week with a pair of wins over Navy.
*The sophomore catcher went 1-for-3 with a two-run double in the fourth inning of Lehigh’s 2-0 victory over Navy in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
*He went 3-for-4 with four RBIs in the Mountain Hawks’ 8-4 win in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader. His two-run double in the first inning opened the scoring, he tied the game in the third inning with a sacrifice fly and cemented Lehigh’s win with an RBI triple in the eighth inning.
PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

*Black tossed his first career 7.0-inning, complete-game shutout in Lehigh’s 2-0 win over Navy. He scattered four hits, struck out four and walked one.
*The junior right-hander held the Midshipmen to a .174 batting average.
*In 57.2 innings this season, Black is 6-2 with a 2.81 ERA and 80 strikeouts, 16 shy of breaking former major leaguer Craig Anderson’s 61-year old record of 94 single-season strikeouts in 1960.

*Over two appearances spanning 6.0 scoreless innings, Bryant allowed two hits and struck out four to finish the week 1-0.
*He earned a victory in 4.0 scoreless innings of relief in the Crusaders’ 4-3 victory in 10 innings against Army West Point.
*Bryant tossed 2.0 scoreless innings of relief against Boston College without allowing a hit and striking out two.

*Giachin batted .467 (7-for-16), slugged .600 and reached base at a .550 clip to help the Black Knights go 3-2 last week, including three wins over Holy Cross. The senior third baseman doubled twice, walked four times, stole two bases, scored four runs and drove in two runs.
Andrew Selima, Holy Cross, Sr., 1B, Andover, Mass./St. John’s Prep
*Selima batted .316 (6-for-19), slugged .526 and drive in five runs with a double and home run during the Crusaders’ five-game week. He delivered a walk-off RBI single in the 10th inning of Holy Cross’s 4-3 win over Army West Point in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader. His grand slam in Saturday’s second game was the first by a Holy Cross player since 2016.
Keller Logan, Navy, Fr., IF, Longwood, Fla./Lake Brantley
*Logan batted .333 (5-for-15) while driving in six runs and scoring twice during the Mids’ four-game week. He had a two-run double in the fifth inning of Navy’s 7-2 win over Lehigh on Sunday.
