ATLANTA, Ga. –– Navy's Martina Thomas (Sr., Fayetteville, Ark.) ended her career by placing 45th in the 200 freestyle Friday at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championship in Atlanta, Ga.  Thomas posted a time of 1:46.78 in the event.

The only Navy and Patriot League women's swimmer to qualify for four NCAA Championship meets on the Division I level, Thomas qualified for nine career events at the meet.  She competed in two events at the 2019, '21 and '22 meets and was slated to compete in three events at the COVID-canceled 2020 championship.  That total ties her with Lauren Barber for the most qualifying events by a Mid at the Division I championship.  Barber had qualified for three events at the 2016, '18 and '19 meets.

Also competing on Friday were Sydney Harrington (Sr., Fairfax, Va.) and Hannah Montau (Sr., Germantown, Md.).  Harrington recorded a time of 52.41 -- the No. 6 time in Navy history -- to place 34th in the 100 butterfly and Montau scored 235.20 points to place 49th in the three-meter diving event.

Harrington and Montau will close their respective careers Saturday as Harrington is entered into the 200 fly and Montau will compete in platform diving.
