2022 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Championship To Begin Tuesday (5.2.22)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The 2022 Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Championship will start on Tuesday, May 3, with the quarterfinal rounds hosted by Lehigh and Loyola Maryland.
 
No. 3 Loyola Maryland will host No. 6 Bucknell at 3 p.m., while No. 4 Lehigh will host No. 5 Navy at 7 p.m. Both quarterfinal round games will be available live on ESPN+.

BU will play the lowest remaining seed on Friday, May 6 at 4 p.m. at Nickerson Field. No. 2 Army West Point will play the highest remaining seed at 7 p.m. The semifinals and championship game will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network. Dave Ryan and Evan Washburn will be on the call for all three games.

Two Teams Ranked In Media Polls
Army (14) and Boston U (16) are ranked in both the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and the USILA/Dynamic Men’s Coaches Poll this week. Loyola and Lehigh received votes in both while Navy earned votes in the USILA Coaches Poll.
 
Patriot League Players Among NCAA Leaders (Top 10)
* Army senior attack Brendan Nichtern is first in NCAA DI in assists per game (3.64) and second in points per game (6.14).
* Boston U junior long-stick midfielder Roy Meyer is first in the nation in caused turnovers per game (3.07), while Holy Cross’ Chris Conlin is in second with 2.86 caused turnovers per game.
* Bucknell freshman attack Connor Davis is sixth in NCAA DI with 3.38 goals per game.
* Lehigh senior faceoff specialist Mike Sisselberger is third with 8.77 ground balls per game and fourth with a .625 faceoff-winning percentage.
* Lehigh Tommy Schelling is tied for eighth in assists per game (2.69)
* With a 9.80 goals-against average, Lehigh graduate student goalkeeper James Spence ranks eighth in the nation.
* Navy Pat Ryan sits in seventh in goals-against average (9.71).

Patriot League Announces 2022 Men’s Lacrosse Postseason Awards
Boston University led the way with three major award winners when the Patriot League announced its major annual men's lacrosse awards on Monday. Army West Point, Bucknell and Lehigh recorded one major laurel each. Loyola placed eight total student-athletes on the All-League teams, followed by Boston with seven, and Army and Lehigh each had five honorees each. Colgate and Navy had two student-athletes apiece, while Bucknell, Holy Cross and Lafayette rounded out the all-League squads with one student-athlete each.
