BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Patriot League Tennis Players of the Week winners were announced on Tuesday as Colgate senior Jack Selati was named male player of the week. Boston University sophomore Michelle Kleynerman earned female player of the week honors.
Army West Point senior AJ Woodman and sophomore Cooper Jackson, Boston University sophomore Cole Knutsen, Bucknell freshman Brendan McDonald, Colgate senior Emme Levenson, Lehigh junior Megha Dania and Navy sophomore Emily Tannenbaum received honorable mentions.
Male Player of the Week
Jack Selati, Colgate, Sr., Winnetka, Il / Lake Forest Academy
*Selati’s two court-one wins helped the Raiders secure a 4-3 victory over Patriot League opponent Holy Cross.
*In singles play, Selati defeated the Crusaders’ Jeremy Clark (6-0, 6-2).
*In doubles action, the senior paired with sophomore Benito Vlassis for a 6-3 win.
Female Player of the Week
Michelle Kleynerman, Boston University, So., Pleasantville, N.Y./Laurel Springs
*Kleynerman won both her No. 2 matches against Brown, who rank No. 49 in the nation.
*Her 4-6, 6-6 (2), 6-2 win helped the Terriers clinch the upset over the Bears.
*In doubles play, she and partner Shelly Yaloz were the only BU pair to record a win.
HONORABLE MENTION
AJ Woodman, Army West Point, Sr, Weldon Spring, Mo. /Christian Brothers College
*The senior defeated Drexel (6-3, 6-3) and Coast Guard (6-1, 6-3) on court one. In court-one doubles play, Woodman and Thomas Lake recorded wins over Drexel (6-3) and Coast Guard
(6-1).
Cooper Jackson, Army West Point, So., Tampa, Fl./Cambridge Christian School
*In No. 1 singles, Jackson defeated Villanova 6-2, 6-3. In court-one doubles play, the sophomore and partner Julia Kelly earned a pair of wins over Villanova (6-2) and Monmouth (6-2).
Cole Knutsen, Boston University, So, Tulsa, Ok./Riverfield Country Day
*The sophomore went 2-0 in BU’s 5-2 win over Marist. He recorded a (1-6, 6-4, 6-2) win along with a 6-3 doubles victory.
Brendan McDonald, Bucknell, Fr., Summit, NJ/Summit
*In No. 1 doubles, the freshman paired with Harrison Gold for wins over Saint Mary’s and Chestnut Hill.
Emme Levenson, Colgate, Sr., Richmond, Va. /Douglas S. Freeman
*Levenson helped the Raiders defeat Patriot League rival Holy Cross 4-0, with a doubles (6-2) and singles (6-2, 6-4) victory.
Megha Dania, Lehigh, Jr., Austin, Texas/Lake Travis
*The junior earned a pair of court-two wins over Quinnipiac (6-1, 6-3) and Loyola
(4-6, 6-2, 7-6). In court-one doubles play, she along with teammate and twin sister Anushka, posted Lehigh’s lone win over Loyola (6-2) along with a 7-6 victory over Quinnipiac.
Emily Tannenbaum, Navy, So., Commack, NY/Commack
*The sophomore racked up her 21
st and 22
nd singles victories of the season with court-one wins over UConn (6-2, 6-4) and South Dakota (6-2, 6-1). In No. 1 doubles play, she and Samantha Johns teamed up for a 6-4 win over South Dakota.
