BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bucknell, Lehigh and Navy split the three Patriot League baseball weekly awards when the League office announced honors on Tuesday.
Bucknell junior shortstop Anthony Sherwin was named Patriot League Baseball Player of the Week after he batted .533 (8-for-15) with eight RBIs and six runs scored to help the Bison split a four-game series against Navy.
Lehigh graduate student LHP Luke Rettig collected Patriot League Baseball Pitcher of the Week after throwing 6.0 innings of two-hit shutout ball in a 4-1 win over Saint Peter’s.
Navy freshman RHP Jackson Beattie received Patriot League Rookie of the Week after allowing just one unearned run through a career-high 4.0 innings of relief against Bucknell.
Army West Point junior catcher Derek Berg and junior RHP Mike Ruggieri, Bucknell sophomore LHP, Holy Cross sophomore DH/1B Sean Scanlon, Lehigh graduate student 1B Casey Rother, and Navy freshman INF/RHP Brock Murtha all received honorable mentions for their performances last week.

*The southpaw moved to third in Lehigh program history with 234 strikeouts.

*Beattie tossed a career-high 4.0 innings, allowing one unearned run and three hits against Bucknell on Sunday.

*Ruggieri allowed one unearned run on four hits through 5.0 innings to earn a win in the Black Knights’ 6-1 victory over USF on Sunday. He struck out six and walked three.

*Magovern allowed three runs, just one earned, on six hits over 7.0 innings to earn a 6-3 victory over Navy on Sunday. After an error led to three Mids’ runs in the first inning, the sophomore left-hander held Navy scoreless through the following six frames to help the Bison split the four-game League-opening series.

*Scanlon batted .600 (6-for-10) with two doubles and two runs during the Crusaders’ three-game series against Seton Hall. He slugged .800 with a .714 on-base percentage. He went 3-for-5 with two runs in a 6-4 win over the Pirates in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader.

*Rother drove in six runs while batting .429 (6-for-14) with three doubles and one home run to help Lehigh go 2-2 last week. He slugged .857 and reached base at a .556 clip. The Preseason Patriot League Player of the Year went 3-for-5 with one home run, two doubles and five RBIs in the Mountain Hawks’ 12-0 victory over Saint Peter’s in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
Brock Murtha, Navy, Fr., INF/P, Sayville, N.Y./Sayville
*Murtha homered and drove in six runs while batting .333 (5-for-15) in five games, including splitting the four-game, League-opening series against Bucknell. The freshman third baseman went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a two-run single while retiring the game's final batter to earn a win in the Mids’ 7-6 victory in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader vs. the Bison.
