BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Patriot League Tennis Players of the Week winners were announced on Tuesday as Navy junior Sasha Panyan collected male player of the week for the second time this season. Boston University graduate student Shelly Yaloz earned female player of the week honors for the second time this season.
Army West Point junior Samuel Haikal, Boston University freshman Corey Craig, Bucknell sophomore Anna Lajos, Lafayette freshman Nick McKenzie, Lehigh sophomore Hamsa Javagal, and Navy sophomore Emily Tannenbaum received honorable mentions.
Male Player of the Week
Sasha Panyan, Navy, Jr., Lutherville, Md./ Dulaney
*The junior posted a 4-0 record in Navy’s Patriot League wins over Bucknell (5-2) and Colgate (7-0).
*At No. 1 singles, Panyan defeated the Bison’s Harrison Gold 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, along with the Raiders’ Jack Selati 6-4, 6-1.
*In court-one doubles action, the junior and teammate Luke Garner notched single-set wins over Bucknell (6-3) and Colgate (6-4).
Female Player of the Week
Shelly Yaloz, Boston University, Gr., Queens, N.Y./Laurel Springs
*The graduate student helped BU improve to 2-0 in Patriot League play this season as they defeated Army West Point.
*In No. 2 doubles, Yaloz and teammate Michelle Kleynerman’s 6-2 win clinched the doubles point for BU.
*Yaloz’s No. 1 singles win (7-6, 6-4) over Army’s Cooper Jackson earned the final point in the Terriers’ 6-1 victory over the Black Knights.

*Craig picked up a pair of Patriot League No. 2 singles wins over Lehigh (6-1, 6-3) and Army (6-4, 6-1).

*Lajos’ No. 2 singles win 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4 clinched the Bison’s Patriot League win over Lehigh. In court-two doubles play, the sophomore and partner Tyne Miller picked up a 6-4 win over the Mountain Hawks.
Nick McKenzie, Lafayette, Fr., Gold Coast, Australia/The Southport School
*The freshman earned a court-three singles win over Bucknell 5-7, 6-1, 11-9, along with a singles and doubles win over Marist.
Hamsa Javagal, Lehigh, So., Brentwood, Tn./Brentwood
*The sophomore went 2-0 in Patriot League play, with a No. 1 singles (6-3, 0-6, 7-6) and No. 3 doubles (6-0) win over Bucknell.
Emily Tannenbaum, Navy, So., Commack, N.Y./Commack
*Tannenbaum defeated Georgetown’s Avantika Willy 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, along with LIU’s Victoria Erechtchenko 7-6 (9-7), 6-3 on court one. In court-one doubles play, she and teammate Samantha Johns defeated Georgetown 7-5, and LIU 6-2.
