BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League announced 3,616 student-athletes have made the 2022-23 Academic Honor Roll, including 2,432 honorees on the Winter-Spring Academic Honor Roll. The League had a 113-member improvement from the 2021-22 academic year.
Patriot League student-athletes are selected to the academic honor roll for achieving a 3.2 grade-point average (GPA) or better during the semester in which their League champion is crowned. This marks the sixth-consecutive academic year the League has topped 3,000 honor roll selections. The League previously had 1,184 student-athletes named to the fall academic honor roll.
The winter-spring academic honor roll is comprised of student-athletes from the 15 sports that conduct their League championship during the spring semester, including baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s track & field, women’s rowing and softball. The fall academic honor roll encompasses student-athletes from men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, football, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball.
During the 2022-23 academic year, 2,006 women were honored across 12 sports while 1,610 men were recognized across 10 sports, both double-digit increases from last year. The 347 women’s track and field student-athletes were the most overall honorees across all sports while football recorded 296 honor roll members. Women’s rowing placed 273 student-athletes on the honor roll, with men’s track and field (270), women’s swimming and diving (261), men’s lacrosse (258), women’s lacrosse (244), women’s soccer (200), men’s swimming and diving (187) and men’s soccer (158) round out the top-10 honorees by sport.
Bucknell recorded a League-high 517 student-athletes on the academic honor roll, including 341 during the winter-spring season. Lehigh placed second with 398 academic honor roll selections, while Lafayette (395) and Holy Cross (394) tied for third. Boston University (366) and Colgate (350) ranked fifth and sixth, respectively, with Loyola Maryland (331), Navy (301), American (210) and Army West Point (195) rounding out the League’s 10 full-member institutions.
Associate members Georgetown (79), Fordham (47), MIT (27) and Richmond (6) contributed to the League’s 3,603 honorees from the 2022-23 academic year.
