BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Boston University remains the leader in the overall Patriot League Presidents’ Cup race through the winter championship season after completing 13 of the League’s 24 sponsored sports. Navy, who has won the Presidents’ Cup in the last nine seasons it has been awarded, is second in the overall standings, with Army West Point in third place.
The Terriers have compiled 84.75 overall points through the winter championship season. BU finished as the runner-up in women’s basketball and women’s indoor track and field. The Terriers’ men’s basketball team advanced to the championship semifinals, while the men’s indoor track and field team placed third at the League championship.
Navy moves into second place (79.25) with a 1.5 lead over third-place Army West Point in the overall standings. The Midshipmen also rank atop the men’s standings with 39 points. Navy won Patriot League titles in men’s and women’s swimming and diving and men’s and women’s indoor track and field. The Mids’ men’s and women’s basketball teams both advanced to the quarterfinal round of their respective League championships. Boston University (38.5) and Colgate (30.25) round out the top three in the men’s Presidents’ Cup rankings.
Army West Point is third overall (77.75) and moved in front of Bucknell in the women’s standings with 47.75 points through winter. The Black Knights earned runner-up status in the men’s and women’s swimming and diving championships and third place in the women’s indoor track and field championship. Army’s women’s basketball team also advanced to the quarterfinal round. Boston University (46.25) and Bucknell (45) rank close behind Army on the women’s leaderboard.
Bucknell (75), Colgate (62) and Lehigh (60.25) rank fourth through sixth, respectively, in the overall standings, with 13 of the League’s 2023-24 champions crowned. American (50), Lafayette (49.75), Loyola Maryland (49.5) and Holy Cross (46) round out the overall field.
Patriot League Presidents’ Cup points are awarded based on a team’s performances in the regular-season and postseason Patriot League standings. In cross country, golf, rowing, swimming and diving, and track and field, the points are awarded based on the final team finish at the Patriot League Championship. The points for football are based on regular-season standings.
