No. 9 Boston University Advances to Patriot League Men’s Tennis Quarterfinals

Terriers overcame a 3-1 deficit to upset No. 8 Loyola Maryland

LEWISBURG, Pa. - No. 9 Boston University rallied from a 3-1 deficit to upset No. 8 Loyola Maryland, 4-3, in the first round of the 2025 Patriot League Men’s Tennis Championship on Thursday at Bucknell’s Varsity Tennis Courts.

The Terriers will advance to play the top-seeded Navy Midshipmen in the quarterfinal round starting at 9 a.m. on Friday.

Loyola Maryland captured the doubles point, as Noah Castillo and Cristain Pemuller earned a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles over Gabe Brown and Jonah Dickson. Boston University was forced to forfeit the No. 3 doubles match due to an incomplete roster.

Brown quickly responded for the Terriers in singles play, posting a 6-2, 6-4 win over Castillo at the top spot. The Greyhounds regained the lead when Pemuller defeated Jaydon Barki 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.

The Terriers evened the match with back-to-back straight-set victories from Cole Knutsen at No. 2 singles and Jonah Dickson at No. 3. With the score tied 3-3, Boston University’s Ege Topkoc sealed the comeback win, outlasting Nick Lawliss, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, at No. 4 singles.
