No. 1 Navy and No. 2 Bucknell To Meet in 2025 Patriot League Men’s Tennis Championship

No. 1 Navy outlasts No. 4 Army West Point; No. 2 Bucknell defeats No. 3 Lehigh

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Top-seeded Navy and No. 2 Bucknell clinched their spots in the 2025 Patriot League Men’s Tennis Championship with wins on Saturday.

Navy defeated No. 4 Army West Point, 4-2, as Nathan Nguyen clinched the match for the Mids at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3). The Mids took an early 3-1 lead after securing the doubles point and winning two of the first three singles matches.

The Black Knights earned a point at No. 5 singles to cut the deficit to 3-2 before Nguyen sealed the win with a three-set tiebreaker to advance to their 24th championship match in program history.

The Bison secured the doubles point with a win at No. 2 doubles, followed by Amar Tahirovic and Brendan McDonald rallying from a 5-4 deficit to take No. 1 doubles, 7-5.

After a weather delay, Bucknell clinched the match with singles wins at No. 1 and No. 2, before McDonald capped it off with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 5 singles. The win sends Bucknell to its first Patriot League Men’s Tennis Championship match in program history since the Patriot League went to team based formatting.
