Patriot League Announces 2025 Men’s Tennis Postseason Accolades (4.25.25)

Bucknell claimed two major awards, while Lehigh and Navy earned one each

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bucknell received two of the 2025 Patriot League Men’s Tennis major awards when the All-Patriot League teams and major awards were announced Friday by the League office. Navy and Lehigh each claimed one major award.

Bucknell junior Amar Tahirovic was named the 2025 Patriot League Men’s Tennis Player of the Year after going undefeated in League play at No. 1 singles and finishing the season with a 22-1 record. Bucknell head coach Jason Cohen was selected as the 2025 Patriot League Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year, marking the first time a Bucknell coach has earned the honor since 1997.

Navy’s duo of senior Luke Garner and sophomore Jack Young received the 2025 Patriot League Men’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Year award after posting a 12-2 overall record and going 7-0 in League play.

Lehigh first-year Jose Murariu was named the 2025 Patriot League Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Year after leading the Mountain Hawks at No. 1 singles with a 10-9 record.

Seven of the League’s nine teams were represented on the All-League teams. Lehigh led the way with three student-athletes honored, while Army West Point, Bucknell and Navy each placed two. Boston University, Lafayette and Holy Cross each had one All-League selection.

The Major Awards and All-League teams were voted on by the nine Patriot League head coaches who could not vote for their student-athletes or themselves.

2025 Patriot League Men’s Tennis Player of the Year
Amar Tahirovic, Bucknell, Jr.
*Tahirovic led the Bison to the Patriot League title, posting a 22-1 record in dual matches and 9-0 in League play at No. 1 singles.
*In doubles, he recorded a 17-8 mark in dual matches and 5-2 in League play while teaming with Brendan McDonald.

2025 Patriot League Men’s Rookie Player of the Year
Jose Murariu, Lehigh, Fy.
*Murariu helped lead the Mountain Hawks to the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Championship with a 10-9 overall record and a 4-3 League mark at No. 1 singles.
*In doubles, he went 4-3 in League play at No. 2 doubles and earned a win over Holy Cross in the Patriot League Championship.

Luke Garner/Jake Young, Navy
*Garner and Young went 12-2 overall and 7-0 in Patriot League play, including a perfect run through the League tournament at No. 1 doubles.
*The Navy pair was the only doubles team in the League to record two wins against 2025 Patriot League champion Bucknell.

2025 Patriot League Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year
Jason Cohen, Bucknell
*Cohen guided the Bison to a 19-6 overall record and a 9-1 League mark, avenging their only League loss to Navy with a victory in the Patriot League Championship to claim their first title since 1991.
*Cohen is the first Bucknell men’s tennis coach to receive the Coach of the Year honor since Bob Hammerlee in 1997.
