Patriot League Baseball Players of the Week Announced (4.7.25)

Navy’s Manning and Bendik and Lehigh’s Kochanowicz receive weekly honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy claimed two of the three Patriot League baseball weekly awards when the League office announced honors on Monday. Lehigh collected one accolade.
 
Navy sophomore outfielder Andrew Manning earned Patriot League Player of the Week, batting .500 (9-for-18) with four runs and three RBIs to help the Midshipmen go 3-2 last week, including splitting doubleheaders against Lafayette and Lehigh.  
 
Navy sophomore right-handed pitcher Brady Bendik won Patriot League Baseball Pitcher of the Week after tossing his second straight 7.0-inning complete-game shutout with seven strikeouts in Navy’s 4-0 win against Lafayette.  
 
Lehigh first-year RHP Cole Kochanowicz captured Patriot League Rookie of the Week after going 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in two appearances spanning 6.0 innings against Delaware State and Navy last week.
 
Army West Point junior DH William Parker and senior RHP Joe Valchar, Holy Cross junior OF C.J. Egrie and junior RHP Jaden Wywoda and Lafayette freshman outfielder Jack Mislan and senior RHP Joe Skapinetz received honorable mentions for their performances last week.

PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Andrew Manning, Navy, So., OF, Natick, Mass./Boston College
*Manning batted .500 (9-for-18) with four runs and three RBIs in five games to help the Midshipmen go 3-2 last week, including splitting a pair of doubleheaders with Lafayette and Lehigh.
*The sophomore outfielder recorded multi-hit games in all four games against Patriot League opponents, including going 2-for-3 with two RBIs in a 4-0 win against Lafayette on Saturday.
*He went 2-for-3 with two runs in a 5-3 win in game one of a doubleheader against Lehigh on Sunday.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Brady Bendik, Navy, So., RHP, State College, Pa./State College
*Bendik threw his second straight 7.0-inning complete-game shutout to earn a 4-0 win against Lafayette on Saturday.
*The sophomore right-hander struck out seven batters and walked one, holding Leopards’ hitters to a .087 batting average.
*He has tossed 15 straight scoreless innings, dating back to March 22 and is the first Midshipmen to throw consecutive complete-game shutouts since Noah Song accomplished the feat in 2019.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Cole Kochanowicz, Lehigh, Fy., RHP, Wyndmoor, Pa./La Salle College
*Kochanowicz went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and six strikeouts in two appearances spanning 6.0 innings last week.
*He tossed 3.0 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out three in the Mountain Hawks’ 36-1 win over Delaware State on Tuesday.
*The first-year right-hander tossed three more scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out three with three walks in Lehigh’s 7-4 win over Navy.
 
HONORABLE MENTIONS
William Parker, Army West Point, Jr., DH, Hopedale, Mass./Hopedale
*Parke batted .333 (5-for-15) with five RBIs and two doubles to help the Black Knights split four games with Holy Cross. He went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs in the Black Knights’ 5-4 loss in game two of Friday’s doubleheader. The junior DH went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in a 4-3 loss in game one of Sunday’s doubleheader.  
 
Joe Valchar, Army West Point, RHP, Sr., Wake Forest, N.C./Heritage
*Valchar tossed a career-high 8.0 scoreless innings to earn a 6-0 win against Holy Cross in the second game of Sunday’s doubleheader. The senior right-hander scattered four hits and walked two while holding the Crusaders to a .143 batting average.
 
C.J. Egrie, Holy Cross, Jr., OF, Ventnor City, N.J./Phillips Academy Andover
*Egrie batted .316 (6-for-19) in five games last week, including four against Army West Point. He went 4-for-5 with two doubles, one RBI and three runs scored in the Crusaders’ 5-4 win in game two of Friday’s doubleheader. He went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored in a 4-3 win in game one of Sunday’s doubleheader.
 
Jaden Wywoda, Holy Cross, Jr., RHP, Milford, Conn./Jonathan Law
*Wywoda tossed his second consecutive 7.0-inning complete game, scattering six hits and allowing one run to earn the win against Army West Point on Sunday. The junior right-hander matched a career high with eight strikeouts and walked one.  
 
Jack Mislan, Lafayette, Fr., OF, Doylestown, Pa./CB East
*Mislan batted .300 (6-of-20) in five games last week with seven RBIs on one home run and one double. The freshman outfielder drove in the go-ahead runs with RBI singles in both of the Leopards’ wins against Bucknell on Sunday. He also went 3-for-4 with three RBIs in an 11-5 win over Navy in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader.
 
Joe Skapinetz, Lafayette, Sr., RHP, Far Hills, N.J./Gil St. Bernards
*Skapinetz struck out 10 while allowing one run on three hits in 7.0 innings in Lafayette’s 2-1 victory at Bucknell on Sunday. The senior right-hander held the Bison to a .125 batting average but did not figure in the decision.
