BETHLEHEM, Pa. – No. 2 Navy defeated No. 3 Army West Point, 18-11, and top-seeded Holy Cross shutout No. 4 Lehigh, 10-0, to open the semifinal round of the 2025 Patriot League Baseball Championship Semifinal Round on Saturday.
No. 2 Navy’s senior second baseman Brock Murtha went 4-for-5 and recorded three of his game-high five RBIs during a Patriot League Championship record-setting 11-run eighth inning to secure an 18-11 victory over No. 3 Army West Point. The Black Knights’ 11-run inning broke the record of 10 runs, previously held by Army West Point (2023) and Lehigh (2002).
Top-seeded Holy Cross rode 8.0 shutout innings with 12 strikeouts from junior RHP Danny Macchiarola to down No. 4 Lehigh 10-0. Senior first baseman Chris Baillargeon went 1-for-4 with three RBIs, and senior third baseman Connor Peek went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Crusaders.
The semifinal-round winners advance to the best two-of-three Patriot League Baseball Championship Series at the home site of the highest-remaining seed. The Patriot League Championship Series winner will receive the League’s automatic berth to the NCAA Baseball Regionals.

WORCESTER, Mass. – Crusaders’ junior RHP Danny Macchiarola tossed 8.0 shutout innings to lead No. 1 Holy Cross to a 10-0 victory over No. 4 Lehigh in game one of the Patriot League Championship semifinal series at Fitton Field.
*Macchiarola scattered seven hits and walked one while striking out 12 through 8.0 shutout innings to earn the win in the first game of the best two-of-three-game series.
*Senior first baseman Chris Baillargeon and senior third baseman Connor Peek each drove in two runs during the Crusaders’ six-run fifth inning to break the game open.
*Baillargeon finished 1-for-4 with three RBIs and a run, while Peek went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, two stolen bases and one run scored.
*Baillargeon opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when his sacrifice fly scored Patriot League Player of the Year CJ Egrie with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning. Egrie scored a game-high three runs from the leadoff spot.
*Senior second baseman Brendan Jones drove in the second run with a sacrifice fly in the second inning.
*Sophomore centerfielder Gianni Royer drove in the final run of the game with a triple down the left field line to score senior shortstop Jimmy King in the eighth inning.
*Junior first baseman Aidan Quinn led the Mountain Hawks’ offense, going 3-for-4. Lehigh junior second baseman Ryan Cochran went 2-for-4.

*The Midshipmen trailed by as many as five runs but used a five-run sixth inning and an 11-run eighth inning to secure the first game of the best two-of-three-game series.
*The top three hitters in the Midshipmen lineup combined to go 8-of-13 with five runs and nine RBIs, with senior second baseman Brock Murtha leading the way, going 4-for-5 with five RBIs.
*Freshman outfielder Mason Ceccarelli, the leadoff hitter, went 2-for-4 with three runs, two walks and a double. Sophomore third baseman Evan Brown, who batted third, went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and one run scored for the Mids.
*Army West Point junior catcher Jack Quinlan led the Black Knights’ offense, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and one run scored. Senior third baseman Coleson Titus and senior shortstop Thomas Schreck drove in three runs apiece.
*Navy freshman LHP Spencer Stephens earned the win, allowing one unearned run on one hit over 2.1 innings of relief.
