BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bucknell senior first baseman Tyler Dunn was named Patriot League Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and one of the 13-student-athletes selected to the Academic All-Patriot League Team when the League office announced honors on Thursday.
Dunn (environmental engineering, 3.57 GPA) collected All-Patriot League First Team honors after batting .325 with three home runs and 30 RBIs while finishing third in the League with a .995 OPS. The Boiling Springs, Pa. native is also a member of Chi Epsilon, a civil engineering honors society. Dunn is the eighth Bison to earn Patriot League Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the first Bison since Tyler Wincig won the award in 2019.
Six baseball student-athletes received Academic All-Patriot League accolades for the second time, with Army West Point senior outfielder Ethan Ellis (operations research, 3.992 GPA), Bucknell senior shortstop Brady Karp (finance, 4.0 GPA), Holy Cross junior right-handed pitcher Danny Macchiarola (history, 3.49 GPA) and Lafayette junior catcher Ethan Swidler (economics, 3.52 GPA) made the 2024 squad. Lafayette senior outfielder Easton Brenner (economics and policy studies, 3.47 GPA) and senior infielder Michael Zarrillo (economics, 3.82 GPA) were 2023 selections.
All six Patriot League baseball programs were represented on the Academic All-League Team, with Bucknell, Holy Cross and Lafayette receiving two representatives apiece. Army West Point had two members on the academic squad, while Lehigh and Navy each had one student-athlete recognized.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in their sport. The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year winner for each sport comprises the pool of nominees for the Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year, presented annually at the conclusion of the academic year.
Voting for Patriot League Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the Academic All-Patriot League Team is conducted by the League’s baseball athletics communications staffers. They were prohibited from voting for their student-athletes.

Nine All-Patriot League Selections Make Academic Squad
Nine members of the Academic All-League squad received All-Patriot League accolades. Dunn, Brenner, Swidler, Army West Point senior shortstop Thomas Schreck (applied statistics and data science, 3.992 GPA), Holy Cross senior shortstop Jimmy King (political science, 3.49 GPA) and Navy senior RHP Landon Kruer (Naval architecture and marine engineering, 3.32 GPA) were all First Team All-Patriot League selections. Macchiarola, Zarrillo and Holy Cross sophomore outfielder Gianni Royer (economics, 3.74 GPA) were second-team honorees.
Academic All-Patriot League Team by Class
The League’s senior class placed eight student-athletes on the academic squad, including Ellis, Schreck, Dunn, Karp, King, Brenner, Zarrillo and Kruer. Macchiarola, Swidler and Lehigh junior catcher Owen Walewander (accounting, 3.55 GPA) make up the three-member junior class on the academic team. Royer is the lone sophomore to be selected.
