Patriot League Men’s Basketball PenFed Credit Union Players of the Week Announced (1.12.26)

Boston University’s McNair, Bucknell’s Curtin claim weekly honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Boston University junior guard Michael McNair earned Patriot League Men’s Basketball PenFed Credit Union Player of the Week when the League office announced weekly honors on Monday. Bucknell freshman guard Pat Curtin captured rookie of the week accolades.
 
McNair claimed Patriot League Men’s Basketball PenFed Credit Union Player of the Week honors for the first time after averaging 28.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists, while shooting 71.4 percent (20-of-28) from the field and 75 percent (12-of-16) from 3-point range in wins against Lafayette (83-67) and Army West Point (100-91).
 
Curtin earned the Patriot League Men’s Basketball PenFed Credit Union Rookie of the Week award after averaging 18.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals to help the Bison to a 1-1 week, including a win over Loyola Maryland.
 
Army West Point junior guard Ryan Curry, Colgate sophomore guard Ben Tweedy, Holy Cross junior guard Gabe Warren, Lehigh sophomore forward Edouard Benoit and Navy senior center Aidan Kehoe were recognized as honorable mentions for their performances last week.
 
The Patriot League men’s basketball players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s men’s basketball athletics communications contacts, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

*McNair averaged 28.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 71.4 percent (20-of-28) from the field and 75 percent (12-of-16) from 3-point range in wins against Lafayette (83-67) and Army West Point (100-91).
*The junior guard scored a career-high 29 points to go along with five rebounds and two assists in the win against the Leopards.
*He followed up with 28 points on 9-of-11 shooting, including 7-of-8 from long distance to help BU score 100 points against a League opponent for the first time since 1989. His seven made 3-pointers tied a League single-game high this season, matching his performance against Penn State.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE PENFED CREDIT UNION MEN’S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Pat Curtin, Bucknell, Fr., G, Ellicott City, Md./Glenelg Country School
*Curtin averaged 18.0 points on 54 percent (14-of-26) shooting to go along with 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals to help Bucknell go 1-1, including a win over Loyola Maryland.
*He scored 17 of his career-high 25 points in the second half to lead Bucknell to a 70-67 victory against the Greyhounds on Saturday.
*The freshman guard shot 10-of-17 from the field and grabbed five rebounds in the win. He scored 11 points and recorded two steals in Wednesday’s loss at Navy.
 
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Ryan Curry, Army West Point, Jr., G, Montgomery, N.J./Montgomery
*Curry scored 21.5 points and dished out 5.5 assists per game in the Black Knights’ losses against Loyola Maryland and Boston University. He finished with 19 points on five made 3-pointers against the Greyhounds before posting 24 points and matching a season-high with eight assists against the Terriers.
 
Ben Tweedy, Colgate, So., G, Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia/The Southport School
*Tweedy averaged 16.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists to help the Raiders split a pair of games last week. The sophomore guard scored a game-high 19 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 18 seconds remaining in a 64-62 comeback win against American. He finished with 13 points and two assists in a loss against Lehigh.
 
Gabe Warren, Holy Cross, Jr., G, Plano, Texas/John Paul II
*Warren averaged 16.0 points on 81 percent (13-of-16) shooting and six rebounds per game to help Holy Cross split a pair of games last week. The junior guard scored 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds in the Crusaders’ 84-73 victory at American.   
 
Edouard Benoit, Lehigh, So., F, Montreal, Quebec, Canada/Brebeuf
*Benoit averaged 24.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists on 60 percent (18-of-30) shooting, including 71.4 percent (10-of-14) from 3-point range to lead Lehigh to wins over Holy Cross (66-58) and Colgate (78-77). The sophomore forward recorded 22 points and five rebounds against Holy Cross before posting career-highs of 27 points and 11 rebounds on 9-of-16 shooting from the field, including 6-of-7 from 3-point range in a win over the Raiders.
 
Aidan Kehoe, Navy, Sr., C, Montvale, N.C./Pascack Hills
*Kehoe posted two double-doubles with 21.5 points and 11.5 rebounds on 94.7 percent (18-of-19) shooting to help Navy remain undefeated in League play with wins over Bucknell (76-55) and Lafayette (76-50). He posted 20 points and 12 boards against the Bison on Wednesday. On Saturday, he scored a career-high 23 points on 10-of-10 shooting from the floor and grabbed 11 rebounds against the Leopards.
