BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy senior guard Austin Benigni collected Patriot League Men’s Basketball PenFed Credit Union Player of the Week honors when the League office announced weekly honors on Monday. Boston University freshman guard Chance Gladden earned rookie of the week accolades.
Benigni captured Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors for the second time this season and sixth time of his career after averaging 25.0 points, 6.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds in Navy’s wins against Boston University (82-77) and Holy Cross (65-58). He eclipsed 400 career assists against the Crusaders to become the seventh player in League history with 1,500 points and 400 assists.
Gladden earned his first Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week award after scoring 22.5 points per game on 53.3 percent (16-of-30) shooting in the Terriers’ losses against 2025 Patriot League Championship finalists American and Navy.
American junior forward Greg Jones, Army West Point junior guard Ryan Curry, Colgate junior forward Sam Wright, Lafayette sophomore guard Caleb Williams and Lehigh sophomore forward Hank Alvey earned honorable mentions for their performances last week.
The Patriot League men’s basketball players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s men’s basketball athletics communications contacts, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

*Gladden scored 22.5 points on 53.3 percent (16-or-30) shooting, while averaging 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in losses against American and Navy.
*The freshman guard scored a career-high 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting, and three rebounds against the Midshipmen in an 82-77 loss.
*He followed with a game-high 19 points, adding four rebounds, one block and one steal in a 64-62 loss against defending League champion American.

Greg Jones, American, Jr., F, Alexandria, Va./Hayfield Secondary
*Jones averaged 16.5 points on 68 percent (13-of-19) shooting from the floor, including 60 percent (3-for-5) from 3-point range to help American go 2-0 with wins over Loyola Maryland (84-69) and Boston University (64-62). He scored a team-high 17 points against the Greyhounds before tallying a team-high 16 against the Terriers.
Ryan Curry, Army West Point, Jr., G, Montgomery, N.J./Montgomery
*Curry averaged 21.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists while shooting 48.1 percent (13-of-27) and 57.1 percent (8-for-14) from long distance in the Black Knights’ 1-1 week. He recorded his first collegiate double-double with 19 points and a career-high 14 rebounds in Army’s 85-78 win over Lehigh. He scored a game-high 24 points in a loss against Colgate.
Sam Wright, Colgate, Jr., F, Hoover, Ala./Spain Park
*Wright averaged 19.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game to help Colgate go 2-0 in a pair of road games open League play. He shot 52 percent (13-of-25) from the field, including 41.7 percent (5-of-12) from 3-point range. Wright posted 20 points and nine rebounds to lead the Raiders to an 85-77 win at Lafayette before scoring 18 points in a 76-69 win at Army West Point.

*Williams led Lafayette to a 1-1 week, averaging 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 62 percent (13-of-21) from the floor and 54 percent (7-of-13) from deep. He posted 17 points and seven rebounds in an 85-77 loss against Colgate in their League opener. He followed with 20 points, four rebounds and four assists in a 79-64 win over Loyola Maryland.
Hank Alvey, Lehigh, So., F, Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs
*Alvey posted 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 70.4 percent (19-of-27) from the floor in losses against Army West Point and Bucknell. The sophomore forward totaled 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting and six rebounds in their League opener against Army West Point. He scored a career-high 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting with nine boards and two blocks at Bucknell.
