BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Army West Point junior forward Kya Smith was named the Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Lehigh freshman forward Leia Edwards earned Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the League office on Monday.
Smith earned Player of the Week recognition after posting one of the top single-game performances in program history with 27 points and 22 rebounds in a win over Howard, before adding her sixth double-double of the season against Lehigh.
Edwards was named Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this year after helping lead Lehigh to a 2–0 week, highlighted by a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double against Bucknell.
Honorable mention honors were earned by Lafayette freshman guard Haylie Adamski, Loyola Maryland graduate forward Lex Therien, Holy Cross senior forward Meg Cahalan, Lehigh senior forward Lily Fandre and Colgate junior guard Ella Meabon.
The Patriot League women’s basketball players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s sports information director, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

*Smith posted one of the top single-game performances in program history with career highs of 27 points and 22 rebounds in a win over Howard, going a perfect 15-for-15 at the free throw line.
*Smith became just the fifth Army West Point player to record a 20-point, 20-rebound game and the only Patriot League player since 2009–10 with at least 27 points and 22 boards in a game.
*The junior followed with 18 points and 13 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season against Lehigh.
*Smith added nine points, seven rebounds and three steals in Army’s first conference win on Saturday.

*Edwards helped lead Lehigh to a 2–0 week with wins at Army West Point and against Bucknell.
*The first-year scored 10 first-half points on 4-of-5 shooting and grabbed six rebounds in the road win at Army West Point.
*The four-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week recorded a team-high 22 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Bucknell.

Haylie Adamski, Lafayette, Fr., G, Garnet Valley/Media, Pa.
Adamski poured in a career-high 24 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including six three-pointers, to lead Lafayette to its first League win of the season against Loyola Maryland. She added seven points in the Leopards’ matchup at Colgate and is shooting 41.3 percent from three this season.
Lex Therien, Loyola Maryland, Gr., F, Marlton, N.J./Cherokee
Therien averaged 20.5 points, nine rebounds and three assists while shooting 73.9 percent from the field in Loyola Maryland’s opening two Patriot League games. She scored 21 points in a win over American and followed with 20 points in the loss to Lafayette.
Meg Cahalan, Holy Cross, Sr., F, Middletown, N.J./Saint John Vianney
Cahalan averaged 19.5 points on 60.9 percent shooting to lead Holy Cross to road wins at Bucknell and Navy. She added 4.0 assists and 2.5 blocks per game while posting her fourth 20-point performance of the season.
Lily Fandre, Lehigh, Sr., F, Eagan, Minn./Eagan
Fandre helped Lehigh to a 2–0 week with 18 points at Army West Point and 14 points against Bucknell. She shot 6-of-11 from three-point range and went a perfect 5-for-5 at the free-throw line during the week.
Ella Meabon, Colgate, Jr., G, Fairport, N.Y./Fairport
Meabon totaled 37 points, 13 rebounds and five assists while logging 71 minutes in Colgate’s first two League games. She scored 27 points against Lafayette and continues to lead the Patriot League in free-throw percentage (.847).
