Patriot League Baseball Players of the Week Announced (2.23.26)

Army West Point’s Barr, Bucknell’s Hoar and, Navy’s Walsh claim weekly honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point, Bucknell and Navy each claimed a Patriot League baseball weekly honor when the League office announced weekly awards on Monday.
 
Army West Point senior second baseman Chris Barr hit two home runs and drove in three runs to help Army West Point defeat SEC opponent South Carolina, 9-5, before going 3-for-6 with an RBI in an 11-3 win over Air Force to earn Patriot League Baseball Player of the Week.

Bucknell freshman right-handed pitcher (RHP) Brady Hoar collected Patriot League Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors after allowing just one hit and an unearned run through 6.0 innings to earn a win in Bucknell’s 4-1 victory over Radford.
 
Navy freshman infielder Patrick Walsh earned Patriot League Baseball Rookie of the Week after batting .500, slugging 1.143 and posting a .533 on-base percentage with five RBIs and three runs scored to help Navy go 3-1 last week.  
 
Bucknell Sr. LF Michael Trommer, Holy Cross So. RHP Pedro Leon and Jr. INF Alex Sandell, Lehigh Sr. C Owen Walewander and Navy Sr. RHP Tyler Grenn received honorable mentions for their performances last week.

*Barr led the Black Knights to a 9-5 victory over SEC opponent South Carolina, going 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBIs.
*The senior second baseman went 3-for-6 with two runs and an RBI to help Army West Point defeat Air Force, 11-3, to earn the Silver Star on Saturday.
*He batted .357 (5-for-14), slugged .786 and reached base at a .400 clip in three games, with two home runs, four RBIs and four runs scored.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Brady Hoar, Bucknell, Fr., RHP, Tampa, Fla./Jesuit
*Hoar allowed just one hit and an unearned run through 6.0 innings to earn the win in Bucknell’s 4-1 victory over Radford.
*The freshman right-hander struck out three batters and walked one, while inducing nine ground outs.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE BASEBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Patrick Walsh, Navy, Fr., Inf., Huntersville, N.C./Christ The King Catholic School
*Walsh batted .500 (7-for-14) while slugging 1.143 and reaching base at a .533 clip with five RBIs, three runs, three triples and two doubles to help the Mids go 3-1 last week.
*He went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and three RBIs in the Mids’ 8-1 win over Marshall on Sunday.
 
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Michael Trommer, Bucknell, Sr., LF, Trevose, Pa./Archbishop Wood
*Trommer batted .462, slugged .769 and posted a .500 on-base percentage during Bucknell’s three-game series against Radford. Trommer posted three multi-hit games and hit a solo home run in the Bison’s 4-1 victory over the Highlanders on Saturday.  
 
Pedro Leon, Holy Cross, So., RHP, New York, N.Y./Millbrook School
*Leon tossed 4.0 innings, allowing two hits and an unearned run in the Crusaders’ 6-5 loss to FIU on Saturday. The sophomore struck out a career-high five batters, while retiring the final seven batters he faced.
 
Alex Sandell, Holy Cross, Jr., Inf., Cambridge, Mass./Buckingham Browne & Nichols
*Sandell batted .412 (7-for-17) and slugged .765 in four games at FIU. He went 3-for-6 with one home run, three RBIs and three runs in a 20-17 victory over the Panthers on Sunday. The junior infielder went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored in a 14-10 loss on Saturday.
 
Owen Walewander, Lehigh, Sr., C, Novato, Calif./Chatham
*Walewander batted .333 (4-for-12) with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored to help Lehigh go 2-1 last week. The senior catcher went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs in the Mountain Hawks’ 5-3 win over George Washington on Friday.
 
Tyler Grenn, Navy, Sr., RHP, Sherman Oaks, Calif./Crespi Carmelite
*Grenn tossed 8.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits while striking out seven and walking one in appearances against Delaware State and Marshall. He earned the win against the Hornets, allowing just one hit over 5.0 innings with five strikeouts. He allowed three hits over 3.2 scoreless innings of relief at Marshall.
