2026 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Notebook (4.17.26)

All nine Patriot League teams in action Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – All nine Patriot League men’s lacrosse teams will be in action this weekend, with live coverage of three important League games on ESPN+, while Boston University (6-5, 4-2 PL) hosts Lafayette (5-7, 1-5 PL) at noon on CBS Sports Network.

Holy Cross (6-6, 2-4 PL) and Bucknell (7-4, 3-4 PL) open the day with an 11 a.m. faceoff at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium, while Navy (7-5, 3-3 PL) travels to Lehigh (5-7, 2-4 PL) for a noon game at the Ulrich Sports Complex.

Two of the League’s top teams face off at noon, as No. 18/20 Loyola Maryland (8-4, 5-1 PL) welcomes No. 15/17 Army West Point to Ridley Athletic Complex.

Red-hot Colgate (5-6, 4-3 PL) concludes Saturday’s slate at 5 p.m. as the Raiders travel to the JMA Wireless Dome looking to upset No. 5 Syracuse.

Three Teams Clinch Spots in 2026 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Championships
Following victories over their respective opponents last Saturday, Army West Point, Boston University and Loyola Maryland have clinched their spots in the 2026 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Championships, beginning Tuesday, April 28, with first-round action.

The Black Knights are back in the postseason for a Patriot League record 19th time, Boston University makes its ninth appearance overall and sixth straight, while the Greyhounds return to the tournament for the first time since 2024.

Army West Point’s Evan Plunkett Selected Fourth Overall in 2026 Premier Lacrosse League College Draft

Army West Point senior midfielder Evan Plunkett was selected fourth overall in the first round of the 2026 Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) College Draft on Tuesday by the Denver Outlaws.
Plunkett is the fifth Black Knight to get the call during the PLL draft since its debut in 2019.

Navy’s Offense Surging Behind Alec Gregorek
Navy junior attack Alec Gregorek is fueling one of the hottest offenses as the Midshipmen lead the Patriot League in goals (161) and goals per game (13.42), which rank ninth and 10th, respectively, in NCAA Division I.

Individually, Gregorek has scored 35 goals through 12 games, which ranks fourth in the Patriot League and tied for ninth nationally.

Six Patriot Leaguers Honored as Nike Lacrosse Midseason Media All-Americans
Six Patriot League men’s lacrosse players were listed as 2026 Nike Lacrosse Midseason Media All-Americans, led by Army West Point senior midfielder Evan Plunkett on the First Team and senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne on the Third Team.

Four players were selected as Honorable Mention, including Boston University’s Timothy Shannehan and Connor Kehm, Colgate’s Jack Carrabine and Lehigh’s Richard Checo.

Loyola Maryland sophomore attack Mason Cook ranked No. 7 on Inside Lacrosse’s article for the 10 Breakout Men's DI Players So Far in 2026. Through 12 games, Cook continues to lead the Patriot League in goals (46) and goals per game (3.83), while ranking second in points (56) and points per game (4.67).

Three Patriot Leaguers Named to Inside Lacrosse’s Freshman Impact Rankings
A trio of Patriot League men’s lacrosse student-athletes was named to Inside Lacrosse’s Freshman Impact Rankings, led by Lehigh first-year attack Finn Morgan at No. 6. Morgan currently ranks second in the Patriot League in goals (37) and goals per game (3.08), tied for eighth in points (44) and points per game (3.67).

Boston University freshman midfielder Peyton Forte was ranked 14th with 30 points on 23 goals and seven assists.

Holy Cross freshman faceoff specialist Shane McDonnell received honorable mention as he ranks second in the Patriot League in faceoff win percentage (.587).

Six Patriot League Student-Athletes Named to 2026 Tewaaraton Watch List
Six Patriot League men’s lacrosse student-athletes were named to the 2026 Tewaaraton Watch List by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Tuesday. Army West Point senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne and senior midfielder Evan Plunkett, Boston University sophomore attack Timothy Shannehan, Colgate senior midfielder Hunter Drouin, Lehigh senior defender Richard Checo and Navy junior defender AJ Marsh represented the League.

The 50 men selected represent the first group from which the eventual 25 nominees, five finalists and the award winner will be chosen. The Watch List will be updated twice, with additions being named on March 5 and March 26.

Patriot Leaguers Among National Leaders in Several Statistical Categories
Loyola Maryland’s Cook Leads NCAA Division I in Goals; Three Additional Players Rank Inside Top 10
Loyola Maryland sophomore attack Mason Cook is tied for the NCAA Division I lead in goals with 46 in 12 games, Lehigh freshman attack Finn Morgan is sixth with 37 goals, Lafayette sophomore attack Benjamin DiBattista is tied for seventh with 36 goals and Navy sophomore attack Alec Gregorek is tied for ninth with 35 goals.

Boston University’s Shannehan Leads NCAA DI in Points Per Game; Ranks Eighth in Assists Per Game
Boston University sophomore attack Timothy Shannehan leads the nation I with 5.27 points per game and is eighth with 2.55 assists per game, both of which lead the Patriot League. Shannehan’s 58 points, on 30 goals and 28 assists, are sixth in NCAA Division I, highlighted by his 11-point performance, which included a career-high six assists, against Siena on Feb. 6.

Five Patriot Leaguers Rank Top 25 in NCAA DI for Caused Turnovers Per Game
Five Patriot League players rank among NCAA DI’s top-25 in caused turnovers per game, with Lehigh senior defender Richard Checo tied for sixth (2.33) and Boston University senior defender Connor Kehm (2.27) in eighth. Holy Cross’ Michael Rincon (2.00) is tied for 12th; Boston University’s Logan Styles (2.00) is tied for 17th and Lafayette’s Noah Blinkoff (1.90) is 24th.

Three Patriot Leaguers Rank Top 25 in NCAA DI in Faceoff Win Percentage
At the faceoff ‘X’, the Patriot League features three specialists who rank in the top-30 for win percentage, led by Boston University sophomore Madden Murphy in 15th at .594. Holy Cross freshman Shane McDonnell (.587) ranks 21st and Lafayette junior Nick Faccone (.575) is 24th.

Army West Point’s Byrne Among the Top Goalkeepers
Army West Point senior Sean Byrne is among the nation’s best goalkeepers as he ranks second in save percentage (.602) and seventh in goals-against average (8.67), while leading the Patriot League in both categories.

Boston University’s Defensive Unit Among the Nation’s Best
Boston University’s defense group has led the Terriers to a 6-5 overall record and a 4-2 mark in the Patriot League as they lead NCAA Division I in opponent clear percentage (.714), rank second in ground balls per game (38.00), third in caused turnovers per game (12.18) and fourth in total caused turnovers (134).

Lehigh’s Checo Breaks NCAA Division I Career Caused Turnovers Record
On Saturday, Feb. 21, Lehigh’s Richard Checo made history as the senior defender broke the NCAA Division I career record for caused turnovers. The Oakton, Va. native surpassed Lehigh’s Craig Chick (2016-19) and now has 173 career caused turnovers across 57 games.

Checo continues to lead the Patriot League in caused turnovers (28) and caused turnovers per game (2.33), while ranking fourth and sixth nationally, respectively.

Lafayette’s Doherty Moves into Patriot League’s Top 10 for Career Saves
Following his 13-save performance at Colgate on April 4, Lafayette senior goalkeeper Joe Doherty moved into the Patriot League’s top 10 for career saves. Doherty currently ranks eighth all-time with 624 career saves and counting.

Boston University received three Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse weekly awards when the League office announced the honors on Monday. Holy Cross and Loyola Maryland each collected a remaining award.

The Patriot League and CBS Sports announced their 2026 spring television schedule on CBS Sports Network, which features eight men’s lacrosse games.

Patriot League Announces 11-Game Spring Schedule on CBS Sports Network (1.15.26)

The fourth Patriot League men’s lacrosse game of the regular season on CBS Sports Network is set for noon on Saturday as Boston University hosts Lafayette, looking to secure a top-four seed in the 2026 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Championships.

For the 17th season, CBS Sports Network will be the home of the 2025 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Championship semifinals and championship game. Coverage of the two semifinal matchups begins at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 1. The League championship game will air at 12 p.m. on Sunday, May 3.
