2026 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Notebook (4.10.26)

Colgate hosts Lehigh on Friday; Seven teams in action Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – All nine Patriot League men’s lacrosse teams are in action this weekend, beginning on Friday night as Colgate (4-6, 3-3 PL) hosts Lehigh (5-6, 2-3 PL) at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, a trio of League contests is highlighted by the Star Game on CBS Sports Network.

At noon on Saturday, Holy Cross (5-6, 2-4 PL) travels to Fairfield and Lafayette (5-6, 1-4 PL) hosts Patriot League-leading Loyola Maryland (7-4, 4-1 PL) at Fisher Stadium.

The annual Star Game is set for 2:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network as No. 15/17 Army West Point (8-3, 3-2 PL) hosts Navy (7-4, 3-2 PL) at Michie Stadium, while Bucknell (7-4, 3-3 PL) and Boston University (5-5, 3-2 PL) conclude the day’s slate at 3 p.m. at Nickerson Field.

Navy’s Offense Surging Behind Alec Gregorek

Navy junior attack Alec Gregorek is fueling one of the hottest offenses as the Midshipmen lead the Patriot League in goals (152) and goals per game (13.82), which both rank eighth in NCAA Division I.

Individually, Gregorek has scored 34 goals through 11 games, which ranks tied for second in the Patriot League and tied for sixth nationally.

Six Patriot Leaguers Honored as Nike Lacrosse Midseason Media All-Americans
Six Patriot League men’s lacrosse players were listed as 2026 Nike Lacrosse Midseason Media All-Americans, led by Army West Point senior midfielder Evan Plunkett on the First Team and senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne on the Third Team.

Four players were selected as Honorable Mention, including Boston University’s Timothy Shannehan and Connor Kehm, Colgate’s Jack Carrabine and Lehigh’s Richard Checo.

Loyola Maryland sophomore attack Mason Cook ranked No. 7 on Inside Lacrosse’s article for the 10 Breakout Men's DI Players So Far in 2026. Through 11 games, Cook continues to lead the Patriot League in goals (43) and goals per game (3.91), while ranking second in points (50) and points per game (4.55).

Three Patriot Leaguers Named to Inside Lacrosse’s Freshman Impact Rankings
A trio of Patriot League men’s lacrosse student-athletes was named to Inside Lacrosse’s Freshman Impact Rankings, led by Lehigh first-year attack Finn Morgan at No. 6. Morgan currently ranks tied for second in the Patriot League in goals (34) and goals per game (3.09), tied for seventh in points (41) and points per game (3.73).

Boston University freshman midfielder Peyton Forte was ranked 14th with 28 points on 21 goals and seven assists.

Holy Cross freshman faceoff specialist Shane McDonnell received honorable mention as he leads the Patriot League in faceoff win percentage (.598).

Kenan Everhart’s Emergence Tied to Loyola Maryland’s Turnaround
The Loyola Maryland men’s lacrosse team is off to a 7-4 start overall and a 4-1 start in the Patriot League as junior attack Kenan Everhart is second on the Greyhounds with 44 points on 24 goals and 20 assists.

Six Patriot League Student-Athletes Named to 2026 Tewaaraton Watch List
Six Patriot League men’s lacrosse student-athletes were named to the 2026 Tewaaraton Watch List by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Tuesday. Army West Point senior goalkeeper Sean Byrne and senior midfielder Evan Plunkett, Boston University sophomore attack Timothy Shannehan, Colgate senior midfielder Hunter Drouin, Lehigh senior defender Richard Checo and Navy junior defender AJ Marsh represented the League.

The 50 men selected represent the first group from which the eventual 25 nominees, five finalists and the award winner will be chosen. The Watch List will be updated twice, with additions being named on March 5 and March 26.

Loyola Maryland sophomore attack Mason Cook leads NCAA Division I with 43 goals in 11 games, Navy sophomore attack Alec Gregorek and Lehigh freshman attack Finn Morgan are tied for sixth with 34 goals, while Lafayette sophomore attack Benjamin DiBattista is tied for ninth with 33 goals.

Boston University sophomore attack Timothy Shannehan ranks third in NCAA Division I with 5.20 points per game and ninth with 2.40 assists per game, both of which lead the Patriot League. Shannehan’s 52 points, on 28 goals and 24 assists, are tied for seventh nationally, highlighted by his 11-point performance, which included a career-high six assists, against Siena on Feb. 6.

Five Patriot Leaguers Rank Top 20 in NCAA DI for Caused Turnovers Per Game
Five Patriot League players rank among NCAA DI’s top-20 in caused turnovers per game, with Lehigh senior defender Richard Checo ranked sixth (2.36) and Boston University senior defender Connor Kehm (2.30) tied for eighth. Boston University’s Logan Styles (2.10) is 15th, Holy Cross’ Michael Rincon (2.00) is tied for 17th and Lafayette’s Noah Blinkoff (1.90) is deadlocked for 20th.

Four Patriot Leaguers Rank Top 30 in NCAA DI in Faceoff Win Percentage
At the faceoff ‘X’, the Patriot League features four specialists who rank in the top-30 for win percentage, led by Holy Cross freshman Shane McDonnell in 13th at .598. Lafayette junior Nick Faccone (.592) is 15th, Boston University sophomore Madden Murphy (.569) is 25th and Bucknell junior Colin McLoy (.558) follows in 29th.

Army West Point’s Byrne Among the Top Goalkeepers
Army West Point senior Sean Byrne is among the nation’s best goalkeepers as he ranks second in save percentage (.597) and seventh in goals-against average (8.73), while leading the Patriot League in both categories.

Boston University’s Defensive Unit Among the Nation’s Best
Boston University’s defense group has led the Terriers to a 5-5 overall record and a 3-2 start in the Patriot League as they lead NCAA Division I in caused turnovers per game (12.50), ground balls per game (38.30) and opponent clear percentage (.702), while ranking second in caused turnovers (125).

Lehigh’s Checo Breaks NCAA Division I Career Caused Turnovers Record
On Saturday, Feb. 21, Lehigh’s Richard Checo made history as the senior defender broke the NCAA Division I career record for caused turnovers. The Oakton, Va. native surpassed Lehigh’s Craig Chick (2016-19) and now has 173 career caused turnovers across 57 games.

Checo continues to lead the Patriot League in caused turnovers (26) and caused turnovers per game (2.36), while ranking fifth and sixth nationally, respectively.

Lafayette’s Doherty Moves into Patriot League’s Top 10 for Career Saves
Following his 13-save performance at Colgate on April 4, Lafayette senior goalkeeper Joe Doherty moved into the Patriot League’s top 10 for career saves at No. 9 with 610 and counting.

PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S LACROSSE ON CBS SPORTS NETWORK
The Patriot League and CBS Sports announced their 2026 spring television schedule on CBS Sports Network, which features eight men’s lacrosse games. Patriot League Announces 11-Game Spring Schedule on CBS Sports Network (1.15.26)

Two more Patriot League men’s lacrosse games are set to be showcased on CBS Sports Network this weekend, beginning on Friday, April 10, as Colgate hosts Lehigh at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, the annual Star Game is set for 2:30 p.m. at Michie Stadium between Army West Point and Navy.

For the 17th season, CBS Sports Network will be the home of the 2025 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Championship semifinals and championship game. Coverage of the two semifinal matchups begins at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 1. The League championship game will air at 12 p.m. on Sunday, May 3.
