BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point earned two of the three Patriot League women’s volleyball weekly awards, while Lehigh collected one, when the League office announced the honors on Tuesday.
Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week
Ufuoma Omene, Lehigh, Sr., Right-Side Hitter, South Holland, Ill./Marist
*Omene was named MVP of the Delaware State Invitational after leading Lehigh to victories over Quinnipiac (3-1), NJIT (3-0) and Delaware State (3-1).
*The senior totaled 29 kills on a .471 hitting percentage, eight digs and eight total blocks.
*The South Holland, Ill. native ranks third in the Patriot League in hitting percentage (.406).
Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Nicole Stroud, Army West Point, Jr., Libero, Fort Worth, Texas/Fort Worth Christian
*Stroud led Army West Point to a 3-0 weekend at the UT Arlington Tournament with sweeps of Sam Houston, Kent State and UT Arlington.
*The junior had 40 digs (4.44 per set) with a .939 reception percentage, while adding 11 assists and three service aces.
*The Fort Worth, Texas native ranks ninth in the Patriot League in digs per set (3.17).
Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Marlee Lightsey, Army West Point, Fr., Outside Hitter, New Braunfels, Texas/Canyon
*Lightsey finished Army West Point’s 3-0 weekend at UT Arlington Tournament with 20 kills on a .356 hitting percentage, 22 digs, two service aces and two blocks.
*The freshman notched a career-high 16 kills, hitting .571, while adding 14 digs and two aces in a sweep of Kent State.
*Lightsey ranks tied for third in the Patriot League in aces per set (0.50) and 10th in digs per set (2.71).
Honorable mentions went to Army West Point’s senior setter Juliette Myrick, Colgate’s freshman right-side hitter Charlotte Goldfeder, Lafayette’s freshman middle blocker Noa Kamphuis, Lehigh’s senior middle blocker Olivia Lasee, Loyola Maryland’s sophomore libero Addie Huber and Navy’s junior outside hitter Farrah Eike.
The Patriot League women’s volleyball players of the week are selected in a vote by League head coaches, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.
Honorable Mention
Juliette Myrick, Army West Point, Sr., Setter, St. Louis, Mo./Eureka
*Myrick led Army West to a 3-0 weekend, earning Tournament MVP and All-Tournament Team honors at the UT Arlington Tournament.
*The senior totaled 61 assists (6.78 per set) and 22 kills with a .413 hitting percentage, while also adding 32 digs, six blocks and four service aces.
*The St. Louis native ranks second in the Patriot League in service aces per set (0.57) and third in assists per set (6.48).
Charlotte Goldfeder, Colgate, Fy., Right-Side Hitter, Rochester, N.Y./Brighton
*Goldfeder helped the Raiders go 1-2 at the Colgate Volleyball Classic after totaling 24 kills, which included a career-high 10 in a sweep of Princeton, five blocks, one assist and one dig.
Noa Kamphuis, Lafayette, Fr., Middle Blocker, Fleringen, Netherlands/Canisius Almelo
*Kamphius totaled 25 kills, nine digs, 14 block assists, five service aces and two assists in Lafayette’s 1-2 weekend at Big Apple Tournament.
Olivia Lasee, Lehigh, Sr., Middle Blocker, Appleton, Wis.
*Lasee helped Lehigh go 3-0 at the Delaware State Invitational, recording 14 blocks across three matches, including 10 in a four-set win over Quinnipiac.
Addie Huber, Loyola Maryland, So., Libero, Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area
*Huber totaled 63 digs (5.25 per set), 13 assists and seven service aces in Loyola Maryland’s 2-1 weekend.
*The sophomore had 23 digs in a five-set win over Morgan State and 21 digs in a sweep of Saint Peters.
*Huber leads the Patriot League in digs per set (4.44) and ranks tied for third in service aces per set (0.50).
Farrah Eike, Navy, Jr., Outside Hitter, Parker, Colo./Valor Christian
*Eike earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Kristen Dickmann Invitational after totaling 42 kills, 26 digs and nine total blocks in Navy’s 1-2 weekend.
*The junior had 15 kills, nine digs and five blocks in a four-set win over Coppin State.
