WASHINGTON - American University soccer player Peter Philipakos (Glen Cove, N.Y./Glen Cove) will forfeit his senior year of eligibility after he signed a contract with the Greek professional team AEK Football Club. Philipakos transferred to AU after playing for St. John's University in his freshman campaign. The 5-9, 160 lbs. midfielder/foward contributed immediately, helping the Eagles to an NCAA Tournament appearance with six goals and four assists for 16 points, good for third on the squad. Philipakos is coming off a season in which he led American University with six goals and three assists for 15 points. He started all 16 games in which he played and fired 37 shots. "We always knew Peter had the talent and potential to play at the professional level," said American University head men's soccer coach Todd West. "We will certainly miss him next season, but we wish him nothing but success in his professional career."
