EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette men's soccer held an NCAA Selection Show watch party Monday afternoon at Kirby Sports Center, where the Leopards learned of their post-season fate.
In the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Lafayette will travel to Ivy League foe Cornell at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The Big Red currently hold a 13-3-2 record and were the No. 2 seed in the Ivy League Tournament. On Sunday, Nov. 16, Princeton took home the conference's title, defeating Cornell 2-0 in the final.
Lafayette defied all odds in November, taking down three quality opponents in the span of seven days. On Nov. 8 at Army, head coach
Dennis Bohn and his group took on the No. 3 seeded Black Knights. The match was scoreless with five minutes to play before freshman
Oliver Gordon scored an outstanding goal to send the Leopards to the Patriot League Semifinal. Against top-seeded American (11/11), Lafayette took a 2-0 lead with goals in the 67th & 68th minutes before controversial spot kicks were awarded to the hosts. Only a minute and 54 seconds were needed in overtime, when
Samir Dishnica fired the Leopards into the Patriot League Championship Match.
The Leopards are coming off a historic eighth Patriot League title win. The Maroon and White were the No. 6 in the Patriot League Tournament and upset No. 2 Lehigh in Bethlehem on Nov. 15 on penalty kicks (4-1) .
