LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the third time in four weeks, Bucknell senior diver Allison FitzPatrick (Berwyn, Pa./Episcopal Academy) was named the Patriot League Female Diver of the Week on Tuesday. FitzPatrick claimed the award following a sweep of the diving events at this past Saturday's Navy Invitational.
FitzPatrick scored a career-best 237.30 from the one-meter board, defeating runner-up Jordyn Nicholl from Navy by 11.20 points. FitzPatrick's score ranks fourth on Bucknell's top-10 list, and it was .75 higher than her previous best (236.55), which also ranked fourth.
In three-meter competition, FitzPatrick posted a 234.45, putting her 8.50 points ahead of second place. It was her fifth-best score of the year from the three-meter, and it marked the fourth time in five meets she exceeded 230.00.
FitzPatrick has now swept the diving events in three of Bucknell's last five meets. She has 11 first-place finishes this year, including eight from the three-meter board.
With three Patriot League Diver of the Week awards this season, FitzPatrick ranks second to Army's Lindsay Adao in number of honors this year. Adao has claimed the award five times. FitzPatrick is also Bucknell's second three-time winner of the award, joining Erika Mannix, who was named Diver of the Week a program-record four times in 2004-05. FitzPatrick is the first Bison to be named Diver of the Week three times in a four-week span since the award began in 2002-03.
FitzPatrick and Bucknell will be idle until the Patriot League Championships Feb. 18-20 in Annapolis, Md. FitzPatrick finished fifth off both boards at last year's Patriot League Championships.
