Patriot League Announces Corvias Men’s Soccer Players of the Week (10.2.17)
 
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Army West Point sophomore forward Rex Epps scored two goals and had two assists to help the Black Knights win a pair of games and earn himself the Patriot League Corvias Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Bucknell sophomore midfielder Bernie Wright captures Corvias Midfielder of the Week, while Loyola Maryland’s junior defender A. Mickey Watson earns Corvias Defensive Player of the Week honors.
 
Army West Point sophomore goalkeeper Justin Stoll garnered Corvias Goalkeeper of the Week after posting his fifth shutout of the season in a victory over Colgate. Boston University freshman midfielder Toti Knutsson had a pair of goals and an assist in two games, including the game-winner against Lehigh to earn Corvias Rookie of the Week honors.
 
Loyola Maryland’s Brian Saramago and Gabriel Carlsson earned spots on the weekly honor roll, along with Holy Cross senior goalkeeper Henry Stutz.
 
LOYOLA MARYLAND, BOSTON UNIVERSITY AND HOLY CROSS REMAIN UNBEATEN IN LEAGUE PLAY
The Greyhounds defeated Navy, 2-0 and Boston University shutout Lehigh by the same score, as both teams move to 2-0 in early League play. Holy Cross registered a 2-0 victory over Lafayette on Friday afternoon to move to 1-0-1.
 
LEAGUE PLAY CONTINUES ON THE PATRIOT LEAGUE NETWORK
League plays continues on Wednesday with five games on the Patriot League Network (PLN). Navy at American starts the day at 3 p.m., before Holy Cross at Boston University, Army West Point at Lafayette, Lehigh at Colgate and Loyola Maryland at Bucknell all kick off at 7 p.m. Saturday includes four more games on the PLN with Lehigh heading to Navy for an 11 a.m. matchup. Boston University and Lafayette kick off at 1 p.m., while Army West Point heads to Loyola Maryland for a 2:30 p.m. start time. Colgate takes on American at 3 p.m.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE LEADERS
*Lehigh’s Mark Forrest leads the Patriot League, averaging 1.78 points per game with six goals and four assists through nine games played. Army West Point’s Rex Epps is at 1.60 points per game with six goals and four assists in 10 games played.
*Loyola Maryland’s Gabriel Carlsson leads the League with six assists, while Lehigh’s Doyle Tuvesson is second with five.
*Army’s Justin Stoll has a League-best 0.585 goals against average through 10 games played. He is second with a .806 save percentage behind Bucknell’s Ryan Ott (.810).

Corvias Patriot League Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards
Corvias Offensive Player of the Week
Rex Epps, Army West Point, So., F, Irmo, S.C./Dutch Fork (USMAPS)
Epps helped the Black Knights to a 2-0 week finishing with two goals and two assists for six points in wins over Sacred Heart and Colgate. The sophomore forward had one goal and one assist in Army’s victory over the Pioneers. He accounted for both of Army’s goals in their 2-0 victory over the Raiders on Friday.
 
Corvias Midfielder of the Week
Bernie Wright, Bucknell, So., M, New York, N.Y./Dalton School
Wright scored the first two goals of his career over two games, during a 1-1 week for the Bison. Wright scored against Fairleigh Dickinson in a 3-2 loss on Wednesday night. On Saturday, he scored the game-winner in the Bison’s 2-1 victory over American.
 
Corvias Defensive Player of the Week
A. Mickey Watson, Loyola Maryland, Jr., D, Berwyn, Pa./South Kent
Watson returned from injury in Loyola Maryland’s match with Navy to play all 90 minutes on the backline, helping them to their fourth shutout of the season. The junior defender helped a defense that limited Navy to just three shots. Navy had been averaging 10.4 shots per game. Watson also added an assist on Brian Saramago’s game-winning goal.
 
Corvias Goalkeeper of the Week
Justin Stoll, Army West Point, So., GK, Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes
Stoll earned a pair of victories for the Black Knights last week, while posting his fifth shutout of the season in a three-save performance against Colgate. The sophomore goalkeeper also made three saves, allowing just one goal in Army West Point’s 2-1 victory over Sacred Heart. He currently leads the League with a .585 goals against average and is second with a .806 save percentage.
 
Corvias Rookie of the Week
Toti Knutsson, Boston University, Fr., M, Gardabaer, Iceland/Fjolbreautaskolinn
Knutsson scored two goals and had one assist during a 1-1 week for Boston University. The freshman midfielder scored the team’s lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Brown last Tuesday. Against Lehigh, he accounted for both of the Terriers’ goals, scoring one and assisting the other in a 2-1 victory. Boston University started League play 2-0 for the first time since 2014.

Brian Saramago, Loyola Maryland, So., F, New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park
Saramago scored two goals in the Greyhounds victory over Navy on Saturday. The goals marked the first of the season for the sophomore forward, who was named the preseason offensive player of the year.
 
Gabriel Carlsson, Loyola Maryland, Jr., M, Stockholm, Sweden
Carlsson had two assists in Loyola Maryland’s 2-0 victory over Navy on Saturday. The junior midfielder now has six assists overall and two in League play. Carlsson was also instrumental in the Greyhounds defensive effort against Navy, holding them to just three shots, to register their fourth shutout of the season.
 
Henry Stutz, Holy Cross, Sr., GK, Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier
Stutz made five saves to earn a shutout victory against Lafayette on Friday for the Crusaders first League win. The shutout was Stutz’s third of the season.
