No. 6 Colgate Captures its Second-Straight and Seventh Overall Title
 
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – No. 6 Colgate earns its second-straight Patriot League Men’s Soccer Championship title after defeating No. 5 Holy Cross Sunday afternoon, 1-0. The Raiders claimed the League’s automatic berth the 2017 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship with the victory.
 
Colgate becomes the fourth team in League history to earn back-to-back titles. The last team to do so was Bucknell in 2009 and 2010. This will be Colgate’s seventh trip to the NCAA Tournament.
 
Colgate junior midfielder Oliver Harris had the game-winner in the 67th-minute of play to advance them past the Crusaders. Offensively, Colgate earned two corners and placed two shots on goal, while sophomore goalkeeper Jacob Harris recorded three saves.  
 
The Raiders will learn their postseason matchup and destination during the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Selection Show on Monday at 1 p.m. ET.

No. 5 Holy Cross (6-8-3, PL 4-3-2) 0 vs. No. 6 Colgate (7-10-1, PL 4-4-1) 1
Baltimore, Md. – No. 6 Colgate captured its second-straight and seventh overall title Sunday afternoon in the 1-0 victory over No. 5 Holy Cross. The Raiders defense limited Holy Cross to three shots on goal through 90 minutes played while Colgate took seven shots, placing two on goal. Colgate’s Oliver Harris’ goal was the good enough for the game-winner to punch the Raiders ticket to the NCAA tournament.
*Colgate is the fourth team in League history to claim back-to-back titles.
*Harris netted his third goal of the season and first points of the post-season with his game-winner Sunday afternoon.
*Jared Stroud’s two assists on Friday night made him the second Colgate player and eighth overall player to dish out two assists in a tournament game. He also is tied for fourth in League history with 11 assists on the season.
*Holy Cross’ Henry Stutz recorded one save on two shots faced.
