Patriot League Announces Men’s Soccer Players of the Week (10.18.21)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Loyola Maryland earned four Patriot League Men’s Soccer weekly awards, while Lehigh took home one award, as the League announced honors on Monday.
 
Loyola junior forward Daniel Tshiani earned offensive player of the week honors, while graduate student Justin Ingram was named midfielder of the week. In addition, graduate student Jacob Denison picked up defensive player of the week, and graduate student Chase Vosvick earned goalkeeper of the week.
 
Lehigh freshman midfielder Yoni Aidlberg rounded out the weekly awards when he was tabbed the rookie of the week.
 
American senior defender Malachy McGovern, Boston University senior defender Evan Morrison and sophomore midfielder Eitan Rosen, Holy Cross senior midfielder Max Krause, Lehigh sophomore goalkeeper Blake Koski, graduate student midfielder Trevor Koski, and junior forward Jack Sarkos all earned honorable mention laurels.

Offensive Player of the Week
Daniel Tshiani, Loyola Maryland, Jr., F, Potomac, Md./Atheneum Royal Thomas Edison
* Tshiani factored in four of Loyola's five goals during a 2-0 week for the Greyhounds against American and Navy. With the two wins, Loyola moved into second place in the conference standings with three League games remaining.
* The junior scored the game-winning goal in Tuesday's 3-0 win over defending Patriot League champions American, off a cross from teammate Justin Ingram in the 17th minute. He then added an assist on Loyola's second strike by Kelan Swales in the 61st minute, registering his first three-point game at Loyola.
* Tshiani recorded another game-winner in Saturday's 2-0 victory over a Navy squad that entered the weekend in first place in the Patriot League standings.

Midfielder of the Week 
Justin Ingram, Loyola Maryland, Gr., M, Indianapolis, Ind./Pike
* Ingram was part of Loyola’s four of five goals during a 2-0 week versus American and Navy.
* The graduate student contributed a season-high four points (1 G, 2 A) during Tuesday's 3-0 victory over defending Patriot League champions American.
* Ingram dished the primary assist on Daniel Tshiani's game-winner in the 17th minute, then assisted on a Kelan Swales’ goal in the 61st minute and scored Loyola's final goal from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute.
* The midfielder added another PK goal during a 2-0 win over Patriot League frontrunners Navy on Saturday, sealing the victory in the final minute of the contest.
* Ingram leads Loyola with 19 points (6 G, 7 A) and is among the Division I leaders in assists per game, and has recorded 13 points (4 G, 5 A) in Loyola's last six games overall.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Jacob Denison, Loyola Maryland, Gr., D, Gaithersburg, Md./Bullis School
* Denison was a key contributor to a Loyola backline that posted a pair of shutout victories over American (3-0) and Navy (2-0) last week.
* The graduate student helped limit Loyola's opponents to just four shots on goal during the two games combined.
* Denison assisted in shutting out a Navy team that had scored 12 goals during a four-game winning streak entering the weekend. He also helped Loyola become only the second team this season to post a clean sheet against American.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week 
Chase Vosvick, Loyola Maryland, Gr., GK, Phoenix, Md./Montverde Academy

* Vosvick totaled four saves during shutout victories over American (3-0) and Navy (2-0), helping Loyola rise to second in the Patriot League standings.
* Vosvick made both of his stops against the Eagles early in the second half on Tuesday when Loyola's lead was still just 1-0.
* He then had a big stop early in the Navy contest to keep the game scoreless, and added another save later that half to hand the Mids just their second shutout defeat of the season.
* The goalkeeper improved to 6-4-1 on the year with five shutouts, a 0.65 GAA and a .788 save percentage. He has allowed only seven goals in 11 appearances overall this season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Yoni Aidlberg, Lehigh, Fr., M/D, San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine College Prep
* Aidlberg recorded his first career goal in the 87th minute as Lehigh beat Lafayette 2-0 on Saturday.
* The insurance goal came off an assist from teammate Trevor Koski to put the game out of reach and give the Mountain Hawks the win.
 
Honorable Mentions
Malachy McGovern, American, Sr., D, Pinner, England/Nower Hill
* McGovern scored the golden goal in a 2-1 victory over Army West Point on Saturday. It was his first goal since Aug. 30, 2019.
 
Evan Morrison, Boston University, Sr., D, Indianapolis, Ind./ASU Prep Academy
* Morrison played all 90 minutes on the backline to help the Terriers claim their third shutout of the season in the win over Colgate. He helped hold the Raiders to just four shots, one shot on goal and one corner kick.
 
Eitan Rosen, Boston University, So., M, Toronto, Ont./Northwood School
* Rosen posted his first two career goals in the first half of a 2-0 win over Colgate this past weekend.
* Both goals were part of a give-and-go situation with one goal in the eighth minute and the second in the 24th minute.

* Krause scored two goals during Holy Cross' 4-1 victory over Bucknell on Saturday. His first goal was the game winner, breaking a 1-1 tie in the 65th minute, followed his second goal in the 87th minute.

Koski recorded his first career shutout in Lehigh's 2-0 win over archrival Lafayette.
* Koski made six saves on 16 shots faced, keeping the Leopards out of the net for 90 minutes.

* Koski tallied two assists on both of Lehigh's goals in the Mountain Hawks' 2-0 victory over Lafayette on Saturday night.
* His free kick in the 60th minute set up the game-winner from Jack Sarkos while his second assist set up the finish from freshman Yoni Aidlberg in the 87th minute.
