BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Army West Point and Navy both earned two of the Patriot League Women’s Soccer weekly awards, while Loyola Maryland recorded one award, as the League announced the weekly honors on Monday.
Army sophomore defender Lindsey Smith received defensive player of the week while freshman forward Kaelan Bradley was named rookie of the week.
Navy freshman forward Alexa Riddle earned offensive player for the second-straight week while teammate sophomore Mattie Gallagher received her third goalkeeper of the week nod this season.
Loyola freshman midfielder Baylee DeSmit rounded out the weekly awards as the midfielder of the week.
Boston University junior sophomore Gretchen Bennett and freshman forward Morgan Fagan, Lehigh freshman defender Hope Flanegin and senior midfielder Rebecca Van Siclen, and Loyola junior goalkeeper Paige Sim all earned honorable mentions.
Five Teams Clinch Patriot League Women’s Soccer Championship Berths
Boston U, Bucknell, Lehigh, Loyola and Navy have clinched berths in the 2021 Patriot League Women’s Championship. Seeding is still to be determined.

Offensive Player of the Week
Alexa Riddle, Navy, Fr., F, Tomball, Texas/Tomball Memorial
* Riddle helped Navy extend its undefeated streak to seven games (5-0-2) with a 1-0-1 mark this week.
* Riddle netted the game-winning goal for the Mids on Saturday as she scored in the 16th minute to put Navy ahead in the eventual 1-0 decision.
* Tied for the lead in the Patriot League in total points with 19, Riddle has tallied two game-winning goals in a 10-day period for the Mids.
Midfielder of the Week
Baylee DeSmit, Loyola Maryland, Fr., M, Towson, Md./McDonogh School
* DeSmit scored Loyola's only goal during a key 1-1 draw at first-place Boston U which clinched a Patriot League tournament spot and top-four seed for the Greyhounds.
* She now leads the team in goals (4) and points (9) and has scored in back-to-back games after providing the game-winner in last Saturday's 1-0 win over Lehigh.
Defensive Player of the Week
Lindsey Smith, Army West Point, So., D, Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream South
* Smith anchored a backline that limited Bucknell to just one goal, even though the Bison averaged nearly two goals per Patriot League game.
* Offensively, Smith scored the first goal of her career in the 2-1 win over Bucknell.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Mattie Gallagher, Navy, So., GK, Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area
* The sophomore goalkeeper helped the Mids clinch a spot in the Patriot League Tournament with a 2-1 win versus Holy Cross.
* Facing four shots on goal by the Crusaders, Gallagher earned her fourth clean sheet of the season.
* She has now allowed one or fewer goals in each of Navy’s past five games.
Rookie of the Week
Kaelan Bradley, Army West Point, Fr., F, Williston, Park, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy
* Bradley scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute in the 2-1 win against Bucknell.
* The goal was the second goal of her freshman season.

Gretchen Bennett, Boston University, Jr., GK, Chantilly, Va./Paul IV Catholic
* Bennett subbed in at halftime and proceeded to make three saves while keeping Loyola off the scoreboard in BU’s 1-1 draw on Saturday. On the year, the junior has a team-high 35 saves, and ranks third in the Patriot League with a 1.15 goals-against average and .778 save percentage.
Morgan Fagan, Boston University, Fr., F, Glencoe, Ill./New Trier
* Fagan was the lone goal scorer for BU in the team’s 1-1 draw vs. Loyola on Saturday. The freshman erased an early deficit by taking an Amy Thompson pass in the box and poking it past Paige Sim in the lower-right corner in the 36th minute.

*In Lehigh's 2-1 win Saturday, the defender assisted on what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 59th minute, making the pass from midfield to Rebecca Van Siclen in the box, who gave Lehigh a 2-0 lead.
