Holy Cross, Colgate and Lehigh record wins on the final day of the regular season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Holy Cross downed Bucknell, 45-6, to finish undefeated in League play and claim sole possession of the 2021 Patriot League football crown on the final day of the regular season.

Head Coach Bob Chesney and the Crusaders already earned the League’s automatic berth into the 2021 FCS Playoffs and will await their postseason fate when the bracket is announced on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 12:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
 
Colgate rallied past Fordham, 45-31, to claim second place and help the Raiders finish 5-1 under first-year head coach Stan Dakosty. It is the best finish in League play for a first-year coach since Andrew Breiner led Fordham to a 5-1 record in 2016.
 
Lehigh snapped Lafayette’s two-game winning streak with a 17-10 win at Goodman Stadium in the 157th meeting of college football’s most-played rivalry game.
 
Georgetown fell to Morgan State, 28-21, at Hughes Stadium despite a pair of touchdown passes from graduate student quarterback Joseph Brunell.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore running back Jack DiPietro earned Rivalry Game MVP honors after finishing with a touchdown reception and a blocked punt that led to a touchdown in Lehigh’s 17-10 victory over Lafayette in the 157th meeting between the two programs.
*The Mountain Hawks’ victory snaps a two-game winning streak for the Leopards in the rivalry.
*Sophomore quarterback Dante Perri completed 14-of-24 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown, while junior wide receiver Jalen Burbage finished with five catches for 70 yards.
*Fifth-year linebacker Pete Haffner led the Mountain Hawks’ defense with 12 tackles and one sack. Sophomore defensive back Donovan Thomas had seven tackles.
*Lafayette sophomore quarterback Aaron Angelos completed 24-of-36 passes for 133 yards, senior tight end Steven Stilianos caught a game-high 11 passes for 56 yards and junior running back Jaden Sutton rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.
*Lehigh scored first when Perri scrambled to find DiPietro in the corner of the end zone, with time expiring in the first quarter.
*The Leopards answered, driving 88 yards on 15 plays and taking 7:24 off the clock before Sutton crossed the goal line on a one-yard run.
*DiPietro was part of Lehigh’s next scoring play, blocking a punt which was recovered and returned for a 12-yard touchdown by junior wide receiver Johnny Foley.
*Lafayette freshman placekicker Micah Pettit connected on a 37-yard field goal late in the second quarter to make the score 14-10 at the half.
*Lehigh junior placekicker Dylan Van Dusen extended the lead to 17-10 with a 20-yard field goal at the 9:39 mark in the fourth quarter.
*Lafayette junior linebacker Marco Olivas finished with a game-high 13 tackles, while senior safety Caleb Burr and senior defensive lineman Malik Hamm each had four tackles and one sack.

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Freshman quarterback Michael Brescia threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 162 yards and two more scores to lead Colgate to a 45-31 victory over Fordham to clinch second place in the Patriot League.
*Brescia passed and rushed for more than 100 yards for the second straight week and posted his third-consecutive game with two rushing touchdowns.
*Sophomore running back Max Hurleman rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries for the Raiders.
*Fordham senior quarterback Tim DeMorat completed 29-of-48 passes for 350 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed three times for 25 yards and a touchdown.
*Junior wide receiver MJ Wright led the Rams with a career-high 13 catches for 138 yards, while classmate Dequece Carter had 127 yards and a touchdown on six catches. Senior wide receiver Fotis Kokosioulis caught his League-leading 13th touchdown reception of the season.
*The Rams and Raiders traded scores throughout the first half, as DeMorat struck first with a 34-yard touchdown run at the 10:49 mark in the first quarter.
*The Raiders answered on their ensuing possession when Brescia threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Joshua Szott, capping an 11-play, 75-yard drive.
*DeMorat connected on a 49-yard touchdown pass to Carter, followed by Brescia rushing for a one-yard score to cap an 88-yard drive.
*The Rams regained the lead when DeMorat threw a touchdown pass to Kokosioulis, but Brescia answered with a 16-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Myles Bradley. Fordham blocked the PAT to hold a 21-20 edge.
*Colgate sophomore defensive back Owen Goss picked off a DeMorat pass with 39 seconds remaining in the first half, resulting in a 24-yard field goal by freshman placekicker Spencer Biscoe to take a 23-21 lead at the half.
*Fordham opened the third quarter with a field goal, but Colgate took control soon after as sophomore running back Max Hurleman and Brescia rushed for touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters, respectively, to build a 38-24 advantage.
*Fordham senior running back Zach Davis added a two-yard touchdown with 5:54 remaining in the fourth quarter to bring the Rams within a touchdown.
*Junior defensive lineman Connor Meyer returned a fumble 12 yards for a touchdown with 1:41 left in the game to seal the Raiders’ 45-31 win.
*Fordham freshman linebacker James Conway finished with a game-high 12 tackles and 1.0 TFL, while fifth-year defensive back Jesse Bramble had nine tackles and 1.0 TFL.  
*Colgate senior defensive back Will Gruber finished with six tackles, one fumble recovery and a pass breakup, while junior defensive back Mikey Jarmolowich had six tackles and a forced fumble. Senior defensive back Collin Heard and senior linebacker Trevor Thompson also recorded interceptions.

BALTIMORE – Fifth-year quarterback Joseph Brunell threw for 262 yards and two touchdowns, but Georgetown fell to Morgan State, 28-21, in their season finale at Hughes Stadium in Baltimore.
*Junior running back Tyler Knoop rushed for a career-high 122 yards and a touchdown, while sophomore wide receiver Asante Das had five receptions for 78 yards and a score.
*Senior wide receiver Joshua Tomas had seven catches for 73 yards, and senior wide receiver Cameron Crayton had five catches for 62 yards and a touchdown.
*Junior defensive back Jovone Campbell had a team-high six tackles and one pass breakup. Graduate student defensive back Ahmad Wilson had five tackles and 1.0 TFL.
*The Hoyas took an early lead on a 42-yard touchdown pass from Brunell to Das.
*Knoop extended the play with a 55-yard touchdown run at the 13:41 mark in the second quarter.
*The Bears scored the next four touchdowns to take a 28-14 lead, keeping the Hoyas out of the end zone until late in the fourth quarter.
*Brunell threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Crayton with 1:11 left in the game, making the score 28-21.

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Crusaders were dominant from the start, scoring 31 first-half points on their way to a 45-6 victory at Bucknell to seal an undefeated 6-0 record in League play and sole possession of the 2021 Patriot League football title.
*The Crusaders’ offense produced 512 yards of total offense and 301 yards on the ground, while the defense forced four turnovers and held the Bison to 87 yards of total offense.
*Sophomore quarterback Marco Siderman completed 8-of-12 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns, both to freshman wide receiver Justin Shorter.
*Four Crusaders rushed for more than 60 yards, led by 80 yards on 10 carries by senior running back Jonathan Abrams.
*Holy Cross senior defensive lineman Benton Whitley finished with four tackles, 3.0 TFLs, one sack, one forced fumble and two quarterback hurries. Junior linebacker Jacob Dobbs had a team-leading eight tackles.
*The Crusaders scored twice in the first quarter, as senior running back Peter Oliver had a one-yard run to cap a 17-play drive, followed by a touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Matthew Sluka to senior wide receiver Tenio Ayeni.
*Siderman threw his first of two touchdown passes to Shorter in the second quarter before junior defensive back Kamryn Molton returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown to take a 28-0 lead.
*A 39-yard field goal from senior placekicker Derek Ng late in the second quarter and Shorter’s second touchdown grab from Siderman in the third gave the Crusaders an insurmountable 38-0 lead.
*Bucknell sophomore quarterback Nick Semptimphelter threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to freshman wide receiver Matt Muir with 2:09 left in the third quarter.
*Crusaders’ freshman running back Jordan Fuller scored his ninth rushing touchdown at the 12:47 mark in the fourth quarter to seal Holy Cross’s 45-6 win and undefeated League slate.
*Muir finished with five catches for 50 yards for the Bison.
*Sophomore linebacker Blake Leake posted a career-high 16 tackles and one sack, while freshman safety John Schlendorf finished with a career-high 14 tackles. Junior linebacker Ben Allen had 10 tackles and a sack in the loss.
