Patriot League Announces Men’s Soccer Players of the Week (4.12.21)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Loyola Maryland earned four of the five Patriot League Men’s Soccer weekly awards as the League announced the awards on Monday. Army West Point collected one weekly award.  

Loyola Maryland Loc San earned Patriot League Men’s Soccer Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week, while senior Justin Ingram garnered midfielder of the week honors, and senior Chase Vosvick was named goalkeeper of the week.

Army West Point freshman defender Jack Eaton was named defensive player of the week.

American junior forward David Coly, Army West Point midfielder Carter Kowalewski, Boston University sophomore forward Marshall Ronaldo, Lafayette junior defender Max Ippolito and senior midfielder Kyle Robbin, and Loyola Maryland senior defender Evan Peters earned an honorable mention.

Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week
Loc San, Loyola Maryland, Fr., F, Mechanicsburg, Pa./Homeschooled
* San opened the scoring at Bucknell on Saturday at the 13:34 mark, as the Greyhounds clinched the No. 1 seed in the South division with a 2-1 road victory.
* The freshman also played a key role in Loyola's 2-0 win at Navy on Wednesday, drawing a penalty in the 79th minute which led to the Greyhounds' second goal to seal the victory.

Midfielder of the Week 
Justin Ingram, Loyola Maryland, Sr., M, Indianapolis, Ind./Pike
* Ingram factored in three of Loyola's four goals during a 2-0 week which clinched both a playoff spot and the No. 1 seed in the South division.
* The senior had a goal and an assist in Loyola's 2-0 win over Navy on Wednesday, followed by an assist in the 2-1 victory at Bucknell on Saturday.
* The senior is tied for the team lead with six points (2 goals, 2 assists) while starting all five games this spring.

Defensive Player of the Week
Jack Eaton, Army West Point, Fr., D, Valparaiso, Ind./Chesterton
* On Saturday, Eaton anchored a defensive unit for the Black Knights that did not allow a goal for 96 minutes and held the Boston University offense to just two shots total, both in the first half.
* Because of Eaton and the Black Knights’ back line, the Terriers didn’t have a shot attempt after the eighth minute of play.
* Eaton and the Black Knight defense held the Terriers to just two total corner kicks on the day.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week 
Chase Vosvick, Loyola Maryland, Sr., GK, Phoenix, Md./Montverde Academy
* Vosvick went 2-0 with a 0.50 goals-against average and a .889 save percentage, as the Greyhounds clinched a playoff spot and the No. 1 seed in the South division with road victories over Navy and Bucknell.
* The senior recorded his 20th collegiate shutout in a 2-0 win over previously-unbeaten Navy, making three saves overall in the victory.
* He also added a season-high five stops, including three in the second half, to help the Greyhounds hold off Bucknell in a 2-1 win on Saturday night .
Honorable Mentions
David Coly, American, Jr., F, Dakar, Senegal/Mercersburg Academy
* For the second straight game, Coly scored the lone goal of the day for the Eagles against Navy on Saturday.

Carter Kowalewski, Army West Point, M, York, Pa./York Suburban
*  Kowalewski found the back of the net for the first time this season as he nailed a free kick from the top of the box in the team’s draw against Boston University.

Marshall Ronaldo, Boston University, So., F, Mississauga, Ontario/St. Martin Catholic Secondary School
* Ronaldo scored the lone goal in the team’s 1-1 draw against Army West Point on Saturday. The sophomore now leads the Terriers with eight points off three goals and two assists in four games.

Max Ippolito, Lafayette, Jr., D, La Jolla, Calif./La Jolla
* Ippolito scored his first career goal in the 72nd minute on Friday in Lafayette’s 3-0 win over rival Lehigh to help Lafayette improve to 6-0 on the season.

Kyle Robbin, Lafayette, Sr., M, Fayetteville, Ga./Whitewater
* Robbin scored his first career goal on Friday on his senior night, in Lafayette’s 3-0 win over rival Lehigh to help Lafayette improve to 6-0 and complete its undefeated spring regular season.

Evan Peters, Loyola Maryland, Sr., D, Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream North
* Peters played a season-high 43 minutes off the bench in Loyola's 2-1 win at Bucknell, making a team save with 10:30 remaining in regulation.
