Colgate and Army West Point to Meet in the 2020-21 Patriot League Spring Volleyball Championship Match (4.2.21)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – No. 1 Colgate will play host to No. 3 Army West Point in the 2020-21 Patriot League Spring Volleyball Championship match on Saturday, April 3 at 3 p.m. on ESPN+. 
 
Colgate defeated No. 4 American on Friday afternoon, 3-2, while No. 3 Army earned a 3-2 win over No. 2 Holy Cross on Friday night in the semifinal round.
 

Colgate and Army West Point have met in the Patriot League Volleyball Championship match just four times, with Army holding a 3-1 series advantage.

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Top-seeded Colgate secured a spot in the women's volleyball championship match with a 3-2 victory over No. 4 American on Friday afternoon.
* The Raiders dropped the first and fourth set but won the second, third and fifth sets.
* This is Colgate's first title game appearance since 2016.
* Senior outside hitter Alli Lowe recorded 15 kills, nine digs and one block assist, while junior setter Julia Kurowski had a .364 hitting percentage along with her fifth double-double of the season with 45 assists and 14 digs.
* American senior outside hitter Helena Elbaek led all players in kills (22), while hitting .241 and collecting eight digs and three blocks.
* Junior middle blocker Carlie Fiske had a season-high 10 kills, while sophomore outside hitter Zeynep Uzen recorded a double-double (15 kills, 11 digs).

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Third-seeded Army West Point Black Knights knocked-off No. 2 Holy Cross in a five-set thriller in the semifinals of the League's Championship on Friday night. 
* Army junior outside hitter Cate Buckingham paced all players with 12 kills and three block assists, while senior middle blocker Monica Eckford finished with 10 kills, three digs and a .455 kill percentage.
* Senior setter Hannah Presley recorded a double-double (37 assists, 14 digs), while senior libero Ana Oglivie (22), freshman libero Riley Parchment (19), sophomore libero Sayler Butters (14) and freshman outside hitter Mackenzie Karing collected double-figures in digs.
* Holy Cross middle hitter Katie Kerins became the first Holy Cross volleyball student-athlete to reach the 800-kill and 200-block career milestone after she totaled 11 kills and eight blocks on Friday.
* Senior outside hitter Rachel Harding collected her third double-double of the season with 10 kills and 17 digs.
* Senior defensive specialist Sophie VanSeveren contributed 23 digs followed by senior setter Kathleen Philo with 19 digs and junior defensive specialist Skye Daval-Santos (13). 
* This marked the first time that Holy Cross advanced to the semifinals since 1995 when the Patriot League went to a four-team tournament.
