American and Navy Advance to Patriot League Men’s Soccer Championship Game (11.8.22)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. —  No. 4 Navy will welcome No. 6 American in the 2022 Patriot League Men's Soccer Championship Game on Saturday, November 12 in Annapolis, Md.

In Tuesday's semifinal matches, No. 6 American recorded a 3-1 win over No. 1 Army West Point. No. 4 Navy advanced on PKs, 9-8, over No. 2 Boston University.

Live coverage of the championship game will begin at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

West Point, N.Y. – The American Eagles move on to the title game of the 2022 Patriot League Men's Soccer Championship after taking down No. 1 Army West Point, 3-1, on Tuesday night.
* American was on the board first courtesy of freshman midfielder Troy Elgersma who found the back of the net at the 42:54 mark.
* Army sophomore forward Gage Guerra tied the game 67 minutes off an assist from junior midfielder Cooper Warren.
* American senior midfielder Mattias Cooper gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead on his third goal of the season in the 100th minute. 
* Sophomore midfielder Leo Palomo sealed the win for American at the 102:31 mark off an assist from junior defender Mike Bleeker. 
* Freshman goalkeeper Matthew Tibbetts made five saves in goal for American while Army sophomore goalkeeper Tomas Hut recorded four saves.

BOSTON – Navy will take on American in the title game after defeating No. 2 Boston U in penalty kicks, 9-8, in the semifinal round on Tuesday night.
* The game was tied at 0-0 through 110 minutes, sending the game to penalty kicks.
* Junior midfielder David Jackson, junior midfielder Jason Aoyama, junior forward Baba Kallie, freshman forward A.J. Schuetz, junior defender Zach Wagner, senior defender JD Wagner, junior midfielder Christian Coelho, senior midfielder Sam Kriel, and freshman defender Jalen Grant all scored for Navy in penalty kicks.
* Eight Boston U student-athletes scored penalty kicks, including freshman forward Diego Rived, senior midfielder Colin Innes, sophomore midfielder Kevin Torres, junior midfielder Eitan Rosen, freshman back Ryan Lau, freshman back Quin DeLaMater, junior midfielder Aidan Holmes, and sophomore midfielder Daniel Kim.
Sophomore goalkeeper Pierce Holbrook made two saves for Navy while BU senior goalkeeper Francesco Montali also made two saves.
