Patriot League Announces 2022 Men’s Lacrosse Academic Awards (5.5.22)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola Maryland graduate student attack Aidan Olmstead was named the Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete for the second-straight year when the League office announced the honors on Thursday. Olmstead was one of the student-athletes on the 12-member Academic All-League team.

Eight of the nine institutions were represented on the academic team, with Boston University, Colgate, Lehigh and Loyola all placing two on the team. Bucknell, Holy Cross, Lafayette and Navy rounded out the academic team with one representative each.
Nine of the 12 Academic All-League selections were also named to one of the two All-League teams announced on Monday, including six first-team and three second-team members.

Four student-athletes received academic honors for the second-straight year, including Holy Cross senior defender Chris Conlin, Lehigh senior attack Tommy Schelling, Loyola graduate student attack Kevin Lindley and Olmstead.

To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.

The selection process was conducted by the League’s men’s lacrosse sports information directors, who could not vote for their student-athletes.

The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year winner for each sport comprises the pool of nominees for the Patriot League Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards given out over the summer. One male and one female are selected for the honors.
