2023 Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Championship To Begin Tuesday (5.1.23)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The 2023 Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Championship will start on Tuesday, May 2, with the quarterfinal rounds hosted by Lehigh and Navy.

No. 3 Lehigh will host No. 6 Lafayette while No. 4 Navy will host No. 5 Loyola. Both quarterfinal round games will be at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

BU will play the lowest-remaining seed on Friday, May 5 at 4 p.m. at Nickerson Field. No. 2 Army West Point will play the highest remaining seed at 7 p.m. The semifinals and championship game (Sunday, May 7) will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network. Dave Ryan and Evan Washburn will be on the call for all three games.

Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Players in Top-10 Nationally
Three players are in the top 10 in assists per game; Bucknell junior midfielder Dutch Furlong (3rd, 2.92), Lehigh senior Christian Mule (5th, 2.77) and Boston U Louis Perfetto (8th, 2.62). Lehigh junior Scott Cole is tied at seventh in goals per game (3.46) and third in points per game (5.31). Mule is also tied for seventh in points per game (5.00), followed by BU senior Vince D’Alto at ninth (4.92).

Lehigh freshman Richard Checo leads the nation and the Patriot League in caused turnovers with 3.69 per game followed by BU senior Roy Myer (7th, 2.15) and Bucknell senior Andrew Stanzel in ninth (2.08). Lehigh senior Mike Sisselberger ranks second in ground balls per game (11.45), followed by Army sophomore Will Coletti in fifth (9.62). Sisselberger leads the nation in faceoff percentage (66.6).

Holy Cross junior goalkeeper Dawson Friers is second in the nation with 14.50 saves per game while Army senior Knox Dent sits in second in goals-against average (8.72).

Patriot League Announces 2023 Men’s Lacrosse Postseason Awards
Lehigh junior attack Scott Cole was named offensive player of the year. Fifth-year faceoff specialist Mike Sisselberger received the Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Faceoff Specialist of the Year honor for the third-straight season. Army sophomore defender AJ Pilate nabbed defensive player of the year, senior goalkeeper Knox Dent garnered goalkeeper of the year and freshman midfielder Evan Plunkett earned rookie of the year. Army head coach Joe Alberici rounded out the major awards as the League's William Lawson Coach of the Year. Full Release
