BETHLEHEM, Pa. – No. 2 Bucknell (6-6-6, 4-1-4 PL) will host No. 4 Colgate (8-8-3, 4-3-2 PL) at Emmitt Field at Holmes Stadium for the 2024 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Men’s Soccer Championship on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Bucknell advanced to the championship game after a penalty shootout in the semifinals with No. 3 American. Bucknell missed wide on the fourth attempt, but Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year Freddie Lapworth kept the Bison alive by saving an Eagles ‘shot. Senior midfielder Ben Sheffield converted the sixth attempt, and American missed wide right, securing Bucknell’s spot in the final.
Colgate reached the championship game with a 2-1 double-overtime win over No. 5 Lehigh in the quarterfinals, followed by a 1-0 upset of top-seeded Boston University in the semifinals. Senior forward Timmy Donovan scored the semifinal game’s lone goal in the 26th minute, assisted by senior defender Toby Goldner. The Raiders’ defense held firm, overcoming a 15-1 shot deficit behind three saves from senior goalkeeper Oliver Townend.

Men’s Soccer to Host Patriot League Championship Match after Outlasting American in Penalty Kicks
The Bucknell men’s soccer team has completed a remarkable turnaround, advancing to its first Patriot League Championship match since 2014 after defeating No. 3 American 6-5 in a penalty shootout in the semifinals. The co-regular season champions, the Bison are one of only two Division I teams to win or share a conference title in 2024 after finishing last in 2023. They will host No. 4 Colgate in the final Saturday at 6 p.m.
