Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Golfers of the Week Announced (2.19.25)

Colgate’s Herzig and Boston University’s Chen collect weekly honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa.Colgate senior Robbie Herzig and Boston University senior Christy Chen were named Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Golfers of the Week, respectively, when the League office announced the first set of honors of the spring season on Wednesday.
 
Herzig claimed co-medalist honors at the Savannah Intercollegiate, carding an 8-under par 136 (68-68).  
 
Chen finished 10th out of 71 competitors at the Columbia Classic by shooting a 4-over par 220 (76-71-73).
 
Bucknell freshman Jack Hartman and Loyola Maryland senior Jackson Roman received honorable mentions for their performances.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Robbie Herzig, Colgate, Sr., New York, N.Y./Phillips Exeter Academy
*Herzig earned co-medalist honors in a field that included 84 golfers and 14 teams by shooting an 8-under par 136 (68-68) at the par-72 Savannah Intercollegiate at the Club at Savannah Harbor.
*The New York City native tied USC Beaufort’s Eric Rengardt, ranked No. 100 in NCAA DII, and Longwood’s Justin LaRue for medalist honors in a tournament shortened due to weather.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Christy Chen, Boston University, Sr, Guangzhou, China/Guangzhou Foreign Language School
*Chen placed 10th out of 71 golfers at the Columbia Classic at the par-72 Duran Golf Club in Viera, Fla., by shooting a 4-over par 220 (76-71-73).
*She helped the Terriers place seventh out of 12 teams in their first tournament of the spring.
 
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Jack Hartman, Bucknell, Fr., Bethesda, Md./Gonzaga College
*Hartman shot a 9-under par 207 (72-69-66) to finish sixth at the Loyola Intercollegiate at the par-72 Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. His 6-under par 66 final round was two strokes shy of a program record.
 
Jackson Roman, Loyola Maryland, Sr., Berlin, Conn./Hamden Hall Country Day
*Roman shot a 4-under par 212 (73-70-69) to finish tied for 16th at the Loyola Intercollegiate at the par-72 Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. He helped the Greyhounds tie for a second-place team finish out of 19 teams.
