Four Patriot League Men’s Golfers Receive NCAA DI PING All-Region Honors

Army’s Heckel Jr., Loyola Maryland’s Crowley and Roman, Navy’s Deegan receive recognition

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Four Patriot League men’s golfers received NCAA DI Ping All-Northeast Region when honors were announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
 
Army West Point senior John Heckel Jr., Loyola Maryland graduate student Michael Crowley, and senior Jackson Roman and Navy junior Chip Deegan were among the 25 student-athletes to garner accolades in the Northeast Region.
 
Student-athletes from 82 schools across six regions, including the Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West, earned All-Region honors in 2025.

Patriot League Player of the Year John Heckel Jr. continued to be recognized for his play this season as he was named to the Division I PING All-Region team for the Northeast by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Heckel Jr. becomes the first Black Knight to earn the honor of being an All-Region player since Justin Williamson in 2019. He was one of 25 golfers selected to the Northeast Team, which included teams from New England down to the Mid-Atlantic.

Crowley, Roman Named to PING All-Region Team

Loyola University Maryland golfers Mike Crowley and Jackson Roman were selected to the PING All-Northeast Region Team, marking the second time each has received the recognition.
 
The two helped the Greyhounds win their seventh Patriot League Championship since joining the League in 2013-14 and Loyola's 24th conference title since 1990. Crowley and Roman led Loyola in scoring average over the course of the 2024-25 season, as the team finished in the top five of eight of its 12 tournaments, earning the Patriot League title and four second-place finishes.

Deegan Garners PING All-Region Golf Honors

Boasting a team-low 73.14 stroke average over the course of the 2024-25 golf season, Navy's Chip Deegan has been named to the PING All-Northeast Region Team it was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. One of 155 student-athletes nationwide to be named to one of the six all-region teams, Deegan was among four competitors representing the Patriot League.
 
Deegan was Navy's top finisher in six of the 10 tournaments in which he played, including five of the six events during the spring season. The third-year standout garnered Second-Team All-Patriot League recognition this spring after placing 12th with a 4-over par 214 in the Patriot League Championship. Deegan is the first Navy player to earn PING All-Northeast Region honors since 2010, when Ben Hayes was recognized.
