BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy senior Chip Deegan and Bucknell freshman Joelle Johnson were named Patriot League Men’s and Credit Union 1 Women’s Golfer of the Week, respectively, when the League office announced honors on Wednesday.
Deegan was selected Patriot League Men’s Golfer of the Week after shooting an even-par 210 (69-72-69) to finish 16th out of 37 golfers at the competitive Jackson T. Stephens Cup at par-70 Shoreacres in Lake Bluff, Ill.
Johnson received Patriot League Credit Union 1 Women’s Golfer of the Week after finishing second at the Battle of the Creek by shooting a 6-over par 219 (73-71-75) at the par-71 Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, Del.
Lehigh junior Stefania Fedun received an honorable mention for her play last week.
Patriot League Men’s Golfer of the Week
Chip Deegan, Navy, Sr., Newport Beach, Calif./Servite
*Deegan tied for 16th out of 37 competitors at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup by shooting an even-par 210 (69-72-69) at par-70 Shoreacres in Lake Bluff, Ill.
*The senior competed as an individual, finishing with the second-lowest score of the seven individual entrants and two strokes outside of the top 11.
Patriot League Credit Union 1 Women’s Golfer of the Week
Joelle Johnson, Bucknell, Fr., Bowie, Md./Indian Creek School
*Johnson posted a second-place finish by shooting a 6-over par 219 (73-71-75) at the Battle of the Creek in Rehoboth Beach, Del.
*She helped the Bison to a first-place team finish out of 16 teams, the team’s second win in two tournaments, at the par-71 Kings Creek Country Club.

*Fedun finished third by shooting a 9-over par 222 (73-73-76) at the Battle of the Creek in Rehoboth Beach, Del. She helped the Mountain Hawks to a third-place team finish out of 16 teams.
