Patriot League Football Players of the Week Announced (9.1.25)

Colgate’s Saunders and Wynn claim first set of honors for 2025 season; Holy Cross’ Cason and Georgetown’s Allen also recognized

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Colgate claimed two of the four Patriot League football weekly awards when the League office announced its first set of honors for the 2025 season on Monday. Holy Cross and Georgetown each received weekly accolades.
 
Colgate senior wide receiver Treyvhon Saunders claimed Patriot League Football Offensive Player of the Week, posting FCS-bests in receiving yards (223) and receptions (13) while scoring two touchdowns in a 42-39 loss against No. 21/22 Monmouth.
 
Raiders’ junior defensive back Tymir Wynn captured Patriot League Football Defensive Player of the Week honors after registering two interceptions and six tackles and Raiders’ loss to the Hawks.
 
Holy Cross sophomore kick returner/wide receiver Alijah Cason received Patriot League Football Special Teams Player of the Week, after returning a kickoff for a 97-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter to bring the Crusaders within two points in a 19-17 loss against FBS opponent Northern Illinois.
 
Georgetown freshman defensive back Brian Allen earned Patriot League Football Rookie of the Week after matching a team-high with six tackles, including four solo stops in a 51-14 victory at Davidson on Saturday.
 
Georgetown sophomore running back Savion Hart, Lafayette junior linebacker Robert Stevens, Lehigh senior linebacker Brycen Edwads, sophomore running back Jaden Green and sophomore punter Connor Poole and Richmond sophomore kick returner/wide receiver Isaiah Dawson received honorable mentions for their performances last week.
 
The Patriot League football players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s football athletics communications contacts, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

Patriot League Football Offensive Player of the Week
Treyvhon Saunders, Colgate, Sr., WR, Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Hartley
*Saunders recorded career-highs of 223 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 13 catches in a 42-39 loss vs. No. 21/22 Monmouth on Friday.
*The senior receiver leads the FCS in receiving yards and receptions and is second in receiving touchdowns after posting five catches of more than 20 yards against the Hawks.  
*He helped the Raiders amass more than 500 yards of total offense for the first time since 2012.
 
Patriot League Football Defensive Player of the Week
Tymir Wynn, Colgate, Jr., DB, Columbus, Ohio/Kipp
*Wynn intercepted two passes, the first two-interception game of his career, in a 42-39 loss against No. 21/22 Monmouth. He added six tackles, including five solo stops.
*Both of Wynn’s interceptions occurred in the end zone to help the Raiders build an early lead.
 
Patriot League Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Alijah Cason, Holy Cross, So., WR/KR, Mansfield, Texas/First Baptist Academy
*Cason returned a kickoff for a 97-yard touchdown with 4:03 remaining in the fourth quarter to bring the Crusaders within two points in a 19-17 loss vs. FBS opponent Northern Illinois.
*He finished with 187 yards on three kickoff returns, the third-highest single-game total in program history, while his 97-yard return is the longest by a Crusader since 1979 and second-longest in program history.
 
Patriot League Football Rookie of the Week
Brian Allen, Georgetown, Fr., DB, Dallas, Ga./East Paulding
*Allen tied for a team-high six tackles, including four solo stops in his collegiate debut, to help Georgetown to a 51-14 win over Davidson.
*He helped the Hoyas’ defense hold the Wildcats scoreless in the second half
 
Honorable Mentions
Savion Hart, Georgetown, So., RB, Minneapolis, Minn./St. Thomas Academy
*Hart scored three first-quarter touchdowns on 69- and 27-yard runs and a 73-yard reception. He finished with 201 all-purpose yards, rushing for 123 on eight carries and 78 receiving yards on two catches in the Hoyas’ 51-14 win at Davidson.
 
Robert Stevens, Lafayette, Jr., LB, Washington, D.C./DeMatha
*Stevens recorded a career-high 11 tackles and 1.0 sack in his first collegiate start in Lafayette’s loss to FBS opponent Bowling Green. The Washington, D.C. native helped the Leopards limit the Falcons’ offense to 19 points and 265 yards.
 
Brycen Edwards, Lehigh, Sr., LB, Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor
*Edwards led Lehigh with eight tackles, 1.0 TFL and a pass breakup in a 21-14 victory over No. 22/25 Richmond in the League season opener. He helped the Mountain Hawks limit the Spiders to 181 yards of total offense.
 
Jaden Green, Lehigh, So., RB, San Francisco, Calif./Junipero Serra
*Green scored two of the Mountain Hawks’ three touchdowns, including the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter, in a 21-14 victory over No. 22/25 Richmond. He totaled 128 all-purpose yards, including a team-high 88 yards on the ground.
 
Connor Poole, Lehigh, So., P/KO, Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport
*Poole averaged 44.8 yards per punt on four attempts to play a crucial role in the field-position game. He recorded a long punt of 55 yards and had a 47-yard punt in the fourth quarter to pin No. 22/25 Richmond at their 18-yard line. He
 
Isaiah Dawson, Richmond, So., WR/KR, Garner, N.C./Garner-Magnet
*Dawson returned a kickoff for a 99-yard touchdown early in the third quarter to tie the score at 14 in the Spiders’ 21-14 loss vs. No. 15/14 Lehigh. The return was the fourth-longest in program history and Dawson’s first collegiate touchdown.
